Spotted the sign for the Deck Tea Garden while following the cliff path to Shanklin Old Village and stopped here for lunch. A few steps lead up to a beautiful terrace and garden with palm trees and sea views. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. The varied lunch menu included a seafood platter, jacket potatoes, and sandwiches and baguettes with a tempting choice of fillings including locally caught crab. Opted for the prawns in seafood sauce on brown bread with salad garnish and crisps. The sandwiches were delicious and generously filled. Good choice of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks

The Carlton Hotel was a real gem of a hotel, lovely warm welcome, we were shown around all the facilities on arrival. Everything was very clean and really well appointed. The views from the bar, comfortable settes in the lounge or sun drenched deck and garden are breathtaking.
Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, plenty of space and good sizes ensuite.
Breakfast was cooked to order and delivered hot and fresh.
Lunches in the bar or garden again are all fresh and very tasty, all staff are very attentive and polite providing exceptional table service and cashless payment at your

We visited here to sit in the garden terrace for something to eat. We both had fresh crab salad followed by a cream tea. Scones were OK, but the salad was lovely. Up on the cliff path it's got amazing views and is away from the busy sea front.

I have been itching to return to this place for years after I worked a summer season as a waitress 24 years ago! Today we (family of 4) visited for lunch. We parked on the esplanade in the car park and travelled to the cliff top in the cliff lift.
The Carlton is just a stones throw from the lift. As I use a power chair we accessed via the accessible entrance around the other side of the building on Park Road. We enjoyed a beautiful lunch and I was thrilled to find the same owners were there after all these years!
You don't run a hotel for 25 years and not learn a few things and they seem to be

Good attentive service in the garden and decking for food and drinks (not staying in the hotel). Reasonable prices for good quality and well presented food and drinks and a fantastic view across the bay. It's a place that I feel I will frequent on a regular basis.

Lovely location overlooking the sea. All staff were very friendly and welcoming. Bedrooms have been renovated and looked beautiful. Nicely maintained garden where you can sit and enjoy food and a drink.
