The role of an educational psychologist lies in supporting children and young people, their families and schools, to promote emotional and social wellbeing, identify any learning difficulties and set out clear strategies for support. I am a Chartered Educational Psychologist, registered with the British Psychology Society and the Health and Care Professions Council.
I am also a member of the Association of Educational Psychologists. I graduated from Exeter University with an MEd in Educational Psychology in 1984. Following this, I began working for Somerset County Council as an Educational Psychologist. Since leaving the Local Authority, I have built up a private practice.

As a parent you will be concerned to ensure your child gains the maximum benefit from their school years. You might want to know how your child is developing and assess their strengths and weaknesses. You may have other genuine concerns about their emotional and behavioural wellbeing and academic achievements which you may want to explore in more depth.
I work closely with Learning Support Departments in a variety of schools across the South West. The assessment allows me to identify strengths and weaknesses a pupil has in relation to their learning potential; be it cognitive, social or behavioural. I can identify key areas of focus and make clear and structured recommendations for learning support.
I work with students of all ages. It is not just children who require diagnostics for learning support. Often adults too may need literacy and numeracy support to reach their full potential in the workplace and beyond. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any queries you may have about your own learning.
Our Mindfulness-Based Skills Building Course is a practical and child-friendly introduction to mindfulness. Children learn best through doing. The sessions are very interactive and playful. We use lots of visuals to teach your child about concentration, self-regulation and stress and anxiety management.
