Rawwater
Welcome to Rawwater: specialists in oilfield reservoir souring and simulation forecasting, inventors of the Bismuth Plug and creators of the world's first Bureau Veritas-certified 'anticipated' 3,000-year-life cast metal seal for oil and gas reservoir plugging & abandonment. We provide contract research and consultancy in the fields of materials science, well integrity and water management.

Combining engineering with reservoir microbiology, we deliver solutions for facilities design. We are also developing Molten Metal Manipulation (M3) - a range of new alloys and application techniques to provide reversible metal seals for the nuclear industry and other sectors. Our knowledge and expertise in oilfield reservoir souring forecasting, simulation and mitigation is gaining attention.
Services
Established in 2000, Rawwater has built its name on providing world-class solutions for the oil & gas industry. We set the standard in souring forecasting. While our 'world first' metal-to-metal bismuth plugging technologies for oil and gas well abandonments provide a highly viable alternative to cement.
The inventor of the Bismuth Plug, Bob has worked with bismuth alloy seals for almost 30 years. Bob serves as a technology developer for the oil industry, with activity in the exploitation of innovative technologies for Shell International and BP.

Before establishing Rawwater, he worked at UMIST (University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology), developing technologies in explosive cutting and cladding, corrosion, subsea engineering and well technology.Bob's oilfield technologies include subsea reservoir injection systems, bismuth alloy well-sealing and forecasting tools for oilfield reservoir souring.
Our expertise in microbiological oilfield souring, reservoir simulation and souring forecasting gives clients the confidence to take informed and cost-effective decisions relating to material selection, production and remedial chemical treatment. Using our specially developed pressurised bioreactors, we have accrued the equivalent of many hundreds of years of oilfield souring data.
Oilfield souring presents unique challenges to the operator; devaluing oil and enhancing corrosion, increasing materials costs and operational expenditure. Having conducted oilfield research for more than 30 years, our scientists are world-leading experts in souring management.

Rawwater can conduct research at temperatures and pressures that mimic specific downhole oilfield conditions and help operators determine the most cost-effective treatment.Rawwater has purpose-built laboratories operating pressurised bioreactors under many conditions that enable us to determine the efficacy of various biocides and water treatment regimens upon different microbial populations.
Our UK-based research teams use pressurised bioreactors - specially designed corrosion-resistant columns - to simulate the pressure and temperature (P/T) conditions that are found in water-flooded oil reservoirs, in order to help oil operators make the right commercial decisions.

We have been sub-culturing oilfield microorganisms for more than 30 years and, since 2006, have operated what is widely considered to be the world's largest and most advanced research facility to study and evaluate microbiological souring in simulated reservoir conditions.
