Hill Farm Equestrian Centre
Hill Farm Equestrian Centre was established in 2002 and has grown into one of Suffolk's leading riding schools. We are a family run yard located in the village of Chelmondiston, just a short distance from Pin Mill and a 10 min drive from Ipswich. Please bring a face mask / covering if you need help with mounting, girth, stirrups or for a stable management session.

Please follow the instructions at the front gate and use hand sanitiser on arrival and when you leave.
Services
Hill Farm Equestrian Centre is an approved British Horse Society (BHS) Equestrian Centre, Pony Club Training Centre and has a Five Star rating from Babergh District Council. Owned by Hazel Ackland BHSAI, this friendly, family run yard offers riding lessons for children (aged 2+) and adults from complete beginners to experienced riders in a safe and caring environment.
The Pony Club is an international voluntary youth organisation for young people interested in ponies and riding. The Centre Membership Scheme was introduced in 1998 so that children and young people without their own pony could join and take part in Pony Club activities, tests and achievement badges.
If you are new to riding or have not ridden with us before, please check out our New Riders page. 9am - 11am - Shetland Pony Club: Working towards Pony Club Bronze Award. 1 hour riding & 1 hour stable management. 11:30am - 1:30pm - Darties Pony Club: Working towards Pony Club Silver & Gold Awards. 1 hour riding & 1 hour stable management.
Where possible please pay via bacs, (details on your booking email) or enclose the correct cash in an envelope with the riders name on the front. We do not take card payments. We are a Pony Club and British Horse Society Approved Centre, with this in mind we try to encourage our riders to become members of one of the these societies.
A pair of comfortable trousers without a seam on the inside leg such as leggings or jogging bottoms. Hard seams in jeans can rub. The whole leg should be covered. Shorts are not permitted. Long sleeved tops are advised. Layers that can be unzipped are ideal as you can get warm when you ride and are easily removed.

I love this yard I have a loan pony up there and I think it is a fantastic opportunity to get your kids to enjoy the fun and learning of looking after a horse. I also think that the scheme up there is fabulous to 🐴🐴😁

My little girl attended a birthday pony party today and absolutely loved it! She learned how to groom and look after the ponies and had fun riding and playing games. Hazel and her team are wonderful with the children and really did a great job.

My girls love Hill Farm and so do I. Hazel is a great teacher who knows when to push them gently to try something and when to let them to continue to gain confidence in what they're doing.

Great instructors, exciting pony day activities and friendly ponies. We love Hill Farm. They really helped my child who was terrified of horses and now loves to ride.
