Services
We are an Engineering Consultancy with a difference. Machine Safety is all we do. We do not sell interlocks, guards or any other remedial work in order to upsell our services or to pull the wool over your eyes. We understand that safe machines are no accident, and that careful planning and prioritisation of machine safety processes are what keeps your employees safe.
As an employer you must inspect industrial machines prior to first use and at suitable intervals thereafter. This service meets that requirement in line with British Standards. If machinery you own does not require PUWER, it will need justifying and referencing on the PUWER register.
Spiers have developed a PUWER risk mapping method called PIPP (PUWER inspection, planning and prioritisation) for discriminating between work equipment allowing your organisation to prioritise resources where they are most needed depending on the level of risk.We understand that some organisations prefer to train their own staff to become competent in PUWER inspections.

These courses are ideal for anyone who intends to complete PUWER inspections and PUWER risk assessments. These PUWER training courses strike a balance between learning and doing by using classroom learning, practical examples and live machine inspection. Become competent in PUWER and gain confidence in the safety of your machines with one of our PUWER training courses.
Spiers Safety have developed a PUWER risk mapping method called "PIPP". This enables your organisation to prioritise resources where they are most needed, based on risk. The purpose of this process is to provide a rationale for generating the PUWER register and maintaining it. Within any formal management system, it is necessary to keep records to track changes and review over time.
A PUWER inspection can help identify any defective or damaged machinery you may have and how to maintain your machinery safely and effectively going forward. Our skilled Machine Safety Engineers have over 30 year's combined experience in carrying out PUWER inspections on a global scale. Spiers Engineering Safety take pride in their inspection work, ensuring your machines are safe to use.

I recently attended two zoom meetings on PUWER presented by Warren Spiers.
The presentations were well received by all, providing information on CE marking, certificate of conformity, CE Audits, inspections, competency of inspectors, etc.
The PUWER meetings consisted of two presentations, the first ran through all the points noted in a logical sequence. On completing that meeting, a link is sent via email for the next presentation.
The second was a recap on the points from the first, followed by a question and answer session. Warren answered all questions raised with great detail. If you require

The Level 1 – PUWER Awareness course I attended was very informative. It provided a good amount of information, without providing too much to take in. Warren was extremely knowledgeable on the subject and managed to relate some of the points discussed, to the safety issues faced by the participants, in their various roles. As such, I would strongly recommend Spiers Engineering Safety for anyone who requires safety training or assistance with anything related to engineering safety.

We've used Spiers Engineering on a few occasions when we need to know that our machinery is safe and when we've required conformation of CE markings. Their approach is well handled by the use of a bespoke customer portal that logs every aspect of the process so you know exactly which areas require attention.
If you are unsure of a niggling PUWER safety issue then I highly recommend them.

I have personally been utilizing the many services provided by Spiers Safety for several years now and I am thrilled with the level of service that I have received over this period of time. Their level of knowledge, experience and attention to detail, with respect to all aspects of Machinery Safety, CE Marking, Risk Assessments, PUWER Assessments and EN 13849 Safety Circuit validation, is both reassuring and pleasing. I have enjoyed easy interaction with both their staff, and their various software tools, and it is comforting to know that there is somebody out there that you can go to for answering
