In 1988, following fifteen years at Birmingham-based tour operator, Horizon Midlands, the time had come to go it alone. Alan and Kay established The Travel Shop on Birmingham Road, Wylde Green, with a passion to deliver knowledgable, friendly, honest advice on the high street and create affordable, tailor-made holidays for their clients.
I was bitten by the idea of travelling when I completed a jigsaw of Portofino as a small boy. It took me some thirty years before I was to visit this beautiful resort. My first job in the travel industry goes back to 1971 when I joined the tour operator Horizon Midlands based in Birmingham. With thirty years under our belt we continue to thrive and enjoy this wonderful industry.

We went to The Travel Shop in June to book a holiday of a lifetime to Singapore and Australia. Told Kay and colleagues our dates and left it to them. They organised everything for us, hotels, flights and visas. Everything went to plan. Absolutely brilliant service. Well done all, will certainly use you again.

We have used The Travel Shop for around 20 years now, and they have never let us down. Most recently Kay and Alan created the most amazing holiday package for us in South Africa. My husband and I and our two… boys 13 and 10 had the holiday of a lifetime on the most stunning country. The beautiful places that we stayed in made a magical, beautiful,relaxing and exciting adventure! I would highly recommend the travel shop for your next trip away.
