My name is Johnny Stubbs I offer guitar tuition in West Sussex. I began learning guitar when I was ten and have loved exploring the intricacies and complexities of the guitar ever since. Over the years I have studied various styles of music and currently offer guitar lessons in: Blues, Rock, Flamenco, Classical, Indie, Pop, and Jazz.
As a performer and guitar tutor I understand the challenges faced with learning the guitar and help make those challenges easier with a refined teaching technique that points out the pitfalls in learning the guitar. My ethos towards teaching is to make lessons as enjoyable as possible. I inspire my students by showing them what they are capable of achieving. Every student that walks through my door has the potential to be a really good player. It is important to remember that everyone is more or less the same and that we are all capable of great things when we put our mind to it.
Learn to play all the major techniques used in rock such as: pinch harmonics, harp harmonics, dive-bombing, finger tapping including (4 finger), Sweeping arpeggios, economy picking, building up speed with alternate picking exercises and application of all the above in a soloing context. Learn all the major techniques used in Flamenco such as: Rasqueados, Gulpe, Picado and correct right hand technique.
The Registry Of Guitar Tutors syllabus will help develop general guitar skills such as: improvising, chart reading, chords and scales in addition to ear training. I can teach up to grade 8. Classical guitar exams again with emphasis on three performance pieces and comprehensive musicianship. Johnny is a great teacher I have really improved since learning with him and would definately recommend him.
I need 48 hours notice for cancellations, even if you are ill or cannot get to the lesson due to weather conditions the lesson fee will still have to be paid on your next lesson. Only in extreme circumstances will the lesson fee be waivered, please bare this in mind when booking lessons. I reserve the right to cancel a lesson at short notice and will make the lesson up at a future date that is mutually convenient.
