Services
It is easier and quicker to manage appointments and request repeat prescriptions via our online service. Simply log in and select an option. Please ensure you have your letter from the Practice before registering with Patient Access. Sometimes the GP is not the most appropriate Healthcare Professional to deal with your ailment.
If you are unable to make an appointment please let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer the appointment to another patient. If you have received a text message reminder about your appointment you can simply reply CANCEL to the message. This will automatically remove your appointment from the clinical system making it available for re-use by our team.
We operate a texting service to all our patients to remind them of appointments or clinics that we run. We require your UK mobile phone number to do this, as we are unable to text or call non-UK numbers. We will only ever text information that is relevant to you & will not share your information with others.
We will always see you on the same day if there is an urgent problem. There are scheduled urgent appointments at fixed times throughout the morning and afternoon for people that need to be seen on the same day - it is vital that these appointments are used only if you have to be seen by a doctor on the same day.
These can be booked up to 6 weeks in advance. Depending on how many people have already booked, there may not be appointments with the doctor of your choice available for several days. We will always do our best to accommodate your requirements. If you do not mind which doctor you see, you are more likely to be seen sooner or on the day and time of your choice.

I've been with this practice for about 3 years. The service and treatment from medical staff has been excellent. I have got to see or speak to a medical clinician very quickly. Referrals to hospitals have happened swiftly. All results and queries have been answered quickly. Sometimes it can take a while to get through on the phone. Obviously busy. The web-site is useful.

I can’t fault the Rycote practice in any way. I’ve been with them for my family for 10 years now and the care they’ve given to each of us is exemplary.
Reception staff are polite and helpful. I’m always called back or given appointments when needed.
The doctor and nurses never make you feel rushed and seem to genuinely care about all aspects of your health and wellbeing.
I feel very lucky when I hear what friends of mine experience in other counties.

You arrive and try to book in using the touch screen, this tells you that there is a problem with your appointment.
You approach the reception to be asked if you are in the correct place, only been a patient with this practice for thirty years so I'm pretty sure I am where I should be.
Then told I only have a telephone appointment, as I am there for a review that involves blood tests I suggest that this is not correct.
Told I am too early!.
I try next year, I might get an appointment.

Despite the problems and restrictions presented by COVID-19, it is possible to have a consultation. Online consultation requests are answered very promptly. A telephone consultation can be enough. When a face to face appointment or blood test etc has been needed, these have been booked for the next day, within an hour. In the past it could be a fortnight before an appointment could be booked. The doctors continue to be very knowledgeable. The flu vaccinations were conducted excellently, with all precautions.

Brilliant GP Practice. I have found the reception staff to be very friendly and they try their best to help if you have an urgent request. Dr. Strachan is lovely and goes above and beyond to help her patients (recently fitting in answering an urgent query I had). Compared to my experience of previous GP Practices in different areas and given the large number of patients they must oversee in the area and the current NHS climate, I think they do a great job! 👍 👍

Where to begin... You'll have more chance of winning the lottery than booking an appointment within a fortnight with a preferred doctor. The waiting area is cramped and seems like a hotspot for spreading germs etc. The practice is a bit backwards as well when it comes to electronic prescriptions. They take an inordinate amount of time to process them, meaning if you choose not to use the nearby Boots (the slowest pharmacy in Britain) and get medication delivered through a third-party, it'll take ages. My advice: look for an alternative doctors surgery if you want one that's remotely efficient.

I have had many hospital appointments in recent year due to breast cancer but my appointments with Dr Merrell Vaughan were always exceptional. Her kindness, sincere caring, and concern made everything better. She is one of the reason that I am doing very well now. Words cannot describe how grateful I am.
