I hardly write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my first time experience using Chapman Piano Service.
My piano had an stuck hammer and needed a tuner ASAP. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a tuner who was willing to come at such short notice. Luckily, I found Chapman Piano Service on Google Map and gave them a call. Doug booked me in and within 48 hrs, did a fantastic job in tuning and resolved the issues with the hammers not returning quickly. Doug was very knowledgeable, polite and professional. Communication was great, I was kept informed the time he would arrive on the day of the service

This is the second time we have had Doug visit, following the success of his first visit, where he managed to achieve a perfect result on our seriously detuned piano following a move.
This time we decided to go for a full service, as the action required a bit of TLC / tailoring to my partner and I's playing style. Needless to say, this is the best our piano has ever felt, despite being a 2005 model i.e. an infant in piano terms.
Aside from the service itself, Doug's professionalism and friendly demeanor set the bar very high, and as I am sure is evident, I couldn't praise him highly enough.

Doug was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. He did a terrific job mending and tuning my piano and it plays beautifully now. The piano is very old and Doug took the time to explain what he had done and to point out any concerns. All in all I was delighted with the service provided to me.

Last year during Covid lockdown I was searching for a top quality grand piano but was reluctant to subsidise some brand name’s lavish advertising costs and sales commissions. I met Doug at Hurstwood Farm. He helped me make up my mind and seal a favourable deal. I now own a Steingraeber & Sohne A170 which I love and enjoy playing without any reservations. Doug came to tune it after it had settled in our house. The piano already sounded beautiful and clear but he seemed to lift and brighten up the entire range of sounds as a whole one step further. It was like a magic touch!

Doug came to do a full service on my Grotrian Steinweg and did a phenomenal job. He ensured I had everything to my preference from the voicing to the regulation of the action. The attention to detail is second to none, feels like I've got a brand new piano. Pleasure to deal with, an absolute gent, can't recommend him enough!

Doug has maintained my concert grand for the past six years. He is by far the best piano technician I have ever used. I know Doug is Steingraeber trained and his expertise is exceptional. He simply does not rest until the instrument is just as the customer desires. This is particularly true for me on the very precise action work he has undertaken on my two concert grand actions. I recommend him without hesitation.
