Services
We are a Community Development Finance Institution (CDFI), owned by our members - both borrowers and investors. We were established in 1997 to help 'alleviate poverty through enterprise' by lending to businesses unable to access any or all of the finance they needed from the banks and so enable them to create or preserve jobs.
Our loans can be used for any business purpose, including asset purchase or working capital. We lend up to 150,000, either as a single loan or as part of a 'package' alongside banks and other financiers. Finance packages are becoming increasingly common as the solution to a business' financial needs.
Joined ART in 1996 from Barclays Bank, for which he had worked for 29 years, rising to Senior Corporate Manager dealing with mostly SMEs in the Midlands. He was appointed Chief Executive prior to the launch of ART in 1997. Steve has contributed extensively to policy issues at both regional and national level relating to access to finance and support for small businesses, including social enterprises, drawing from his recent practical experience.
We take a personal approach to assessing applications and are always happy to discuss your proposal. We aim to make it easy for businesses to access the funds they need, as quickly as possible and with the minimum of fuss. Even if we can't help we might be able to signpost you to someone that can. Our application process is geared towards understanding your business and assessing whether we can help.
If you are an accountant, banker or financial advisor, we'd like to help you to support your clients. We can work with you to find ways to access the funds they need and attend joint meetings if appropriate. We pay 1% commission of the loan drawn to any organisation, or individual, who introduces a successful loan application to us.
