It is clear that the owner is not open to any criticism and will do anything in order to make money, including acting in an unethical manner.
Firstly, the cleanliness of the house was absolutely appalling. In fact, appalling is an understatement. There were stains on the bedsheets, and on the toilet seat of the room that I had stayed in. Thick dust covered the picture frames, as well as the fact that there were cobwebs in the corners of multiple rooms. This was extremely unpleasant. Martin will say “why didn’t we raise this as an issue?” But how are we supposed to when his response to any

My family booked the whole house except for two rooms. I could only confirm my attendance closer to the date as I had work commitments.
I wanted to book for one night only but Martin said that wasn’t possible and I was to pay for three nights. I paid him separate to the main booking.
I arrived on day 2 and left my belongings in my room and joined my family on a day trip out. Arriving later I felt I couldn’t stay in that room, due to the dust, musty smell and stains on the bed covering.
I ate supper with my family and decided to leave as I couldn’t stay there the night.
We asked Martin

Very unpleasant stay. The host is very interfering and turns up during your stay. Cleanliness of the property is not great. The host tried to charge us extra after the stay which were all absurd and petty charges.
Do not recommend.
He will probably respond to this with his absurd accusation which are not true. His a very difficult human.

Yes Martin, another member of the family that stayed at the lodge who is not a “lead guest”. Your response to the previous reviews says it all!
Out of respect and politeness, my family and I decided not to make any complaints about the living standards whilst living there, although all those who lived on second floor were unable to sleep for all three nights. However, when we heard of the horrific bill that you wanted to charge us for petty issues we need to bring them to light.
The whole cottage was dirty, as if never been cleaned in months. Dust found in every corner we turned to, cobwebs

I am another guest who stayed in the wet room downstairs. The house was big and catered well for a large group.
In regards to Martins accusation about the ONE nappy sack in the recycling, i was the culprit. I understood the mistake and passed my apologies to martin as this was genuine mistake.
After our stay Martin had charged £10 for urinating on the bath Mat. I found this highly offensive and deeply upsetting. WE WOULD NEVER URINATE ON A BATH MAT! I told Martin that there was no way to stop the water from flowing out of the shower and onto the bath Mat and the mat was simply wet from having

Worst stay of my life. My family have been booking properties for many years and we have never had any problems. The state of this property was disgusting!! Especially on the second floor. There was dirt everywhere, clumps of blonde hair on the carpet, stains on the bedsheets, filthy windows, cobwebs everywhere, disgusting smells in all three rooms. This was so disappointing, I couldn’t sleep all three nights of our stay. It was such an uncomfortable experience. It was so bad that family members had to leave a day early. I do not recommend this property AT ALL.
