Clinical Association Of Reflexologists
Balens's Bespoke Insurance cover for members of the Clinical Association of Reflexologists. Balens are a well-established, fourth generation family business who specialise in insurance cover for Health & Wellbeing, Fitness, Beauty Therapy and other Health Professionals and organisations. We are experts in the development of insurance wordings for Health & Wellbeing Professionals.

These wordings are, in our opinion, one of the widest available on market and include important features that other available, cheaper insurance packages may not include. Balens have always regarded claims support, quality cover and personal service as our main strengths. Balens have devised a policy specifically for individuals who are members of the Clinical Association of Reflexologists.
Services
The Clinical Association of Reflexologists (CAR) was initially founded in 1995, by the late Clive O'Hara, to give a voice on the Reflexology Forum to UK reflexologists working clinically so they could help shape and support the process of voluntary regulation in the UK. CAR is committed to providing an excellent service for its members, and any reflexology practitioner who wishes to join our association.
Our use of this term is related to the type of treatment provided by the reflexologist and the type of people treated. The emphasis on 'clinical' is on what the practitioner does rather than where they do it. A Clinical Reflexologist is trained to work safely on people with medical problems without prior written or verbal permission from the doctor and can be insured to do this.
A qualified reflexologist will be registered with one of the main bodies that govern reflexology. A good rule is to check whether they belong to a professional body that is a member of the Reflexology Forum, the emerging regulatory body for Reflexology in the UK. As a general rule reflexology practitioners need to spend two years training and developing their skills and then keep up with CPD (Continuing Professional Development).
Board members of the Clinical Association of Reflexologists are volunteers who are elected to their positions by the members of the association. Each Board member is duty-bound to act in the best interests of CAR and its members, which means putting aside personal interests and opinions when performing Board duties.
Reflexology in Britain is a rapidly-growing profession. Greater public interest, acceptance and training has led to many more people giving and receiving reflexology in all types of environments to varying standards and with many varieties of technique. Reflexology is holistic in its approach but this does not conflict with gaining understanding, and developing the science, of how it works.
