Ambassador Marine was established by Robin Shaw in 1985 to produce its now world renowned Stripper propeller protector. Robin learnt the hard way that without a suitable rope cutting device any propeller can be fouled after he snagged a rope whilst in the Bay of Biscay, which led to harsh consequences that the crew were lucky to survive.
As sailors we carry the means to our own destruction. Ropes are used all over boats and any one of them could accidentally slip over the side causing a serious problem, even if all the ropes on your boat remain where they should be there is plenty of other material lurking just below the surface to catch out the unwary.
The conventional shaft Stripper is designed to cater for a wide range of shaft sizes and propeller configurations allowing a perfect match with your boat. The Stripper is made up of several parts that are assembled in halves and bolted onto the propeller shaft, avoiding having to remove the propeller for initial installation or any future maintenance.
Ambassador Marine is the only company to offer a scissor action rope cutter for saildrive boats, the Stripper can be installed on Volvo 120, Volvo 130, Volvo 150, Yanmar and Bukh saildrives. The Volvo 130 and Volvo 150 saildrive legs are identical as far as the Stripper is concerned, therefore our Stripper to fit a Volvo 150 saildrive leg is also compatible with the Volvo 130 saildrive leg.
For specialist fit installations we offer a range of custom built Strippers, these support vessels with larger than standard shaft sizes or propeller bosses to ships where the standard shaft mounting configuration would be impractical. These Strippers are custom built to meet your specific requirements from one off boats to entire fleets, due to this delivery times are longer than our standard Stripper models.
