Services
At South East Timber and Damp we have different survey packages, depending upon whether you need a full written timber and damp report for a home purchase survey or want a comprehensive investigation with just an estimate to give you the information you need to make the best decision on how to protect your property.
Damp proofing is the generic term used to describe the processes and treatments implemented to fix or prevent the damp problems that occur within a property. The cost of damp in a property can run to thousands of pounds, so acting quickly to identify the issue and solve the problem is critical. It pays to be vigilant, and there are often cost-effective solutions you can implement.
Not overly scientific, but this is exactly what it is. Water can encroach on your building from the ground for a variety of reasons, and it will attack your brickwork, climbing the walls via the porous nature of the components. It will impact on the various surfaces it comes into contact with including woodwork, as well as bricks and mortar.
Penetrating damp is known technically as 'water ingress'; it refers to any moisture seeping into the fabric of a building from routes other than the ground (see Rising Damp). Penetrating damp can cause structural and cosmetic damage to a building, as well as potentially creating health complications for the inhabitants if left untreated for a prolonged time.
Known as Serpula Lacrymans, dry rot is a wood destroying fungus which feeds on moisture - typically in poorly ventilated buildings or water exposed timbers from damaged gutters and leaky pipes. Once fungus spores germinate, fine strands of fungal growth sprout and spread, devouring wood. And because dry rot even penetrates mortar, plaster and concrete, it can cause widespread and often unseen damage.

We have recently had work done using South East Timber and Damp and could not be happier with the whole experience from start to finish. From the first phone contact, speaking to their lovely, friendly and helpful staff who organised the survey and consequent work right through to their team of technicians who turned up and got the job done fast and efficiently. The technicians were also so nice and friendly, leaving their work space clean and tidy at the end of the day and just getting on with the job in hand. We are more than happy with the work carried out and couldn't recommend this great company

I used Dean and the team at SETD 10 years ago and was extremely pleased with the work and the way they delivered. We are now moving and had need to consult the team again. The service was still prompt, complete and profesional. SETD will always be my first call for all areas of their expertise

Lee was very professional and knowledgeable and was able to visit the property the very next day. His recommendations were very thorough and the property is already showing signs of improvement. 100% satisfied and I recommend South East Timber and Damp Limited to anyone looking to solve their damp problems!

If you're looking for a resolution to damp problems in your home then I can highly recommend this company. I had sought advice from roofers and builders all to no avail( and at great cost) and then hurray discovered this company!
Customer service was excellent , the survey and advice from Lee was thorough and explained in a way that was easy for an ordinary person to understand and left me assured that my house was not about to fall down around me! I have had many dealings with all sorts of companies over the years and can honestly say that this was by far the best- honest professional and reasonably
