It all started back in 1980 when, on leaving school, David became a trainee jewellery sales assistant in Whitechapel, Liverpool. There, with the knowledge and advice gained from his manager, David's passion for jewellery grew and 40 years later, that passion remains. This trainee start led to an apprenticeship as a goldsmith and there followed experience in fine jewellery stores including Mappin & Webb and Herbert Wolf.
David's ambition was always to be independent and, with the aid of a Prince's Trust grant, David built a workbench and started work on trade jewellery repairs in his spare bedroom and garage. As business grew, he rented a room above a jewellery shop and worked there until 1996. In December the same year, David Moss Jeweller opened in the historic market town of Ormskirk and has remained there ever since.

We have over 60 years combined experience in our in-house workshop and with a network of specialist services your jewellery is in safe hands to ensure it is returned to you in perfect condition. All repairs & alterations are carried out to the highest standard, We can re-size your jewellery, repair chains & bracelets, replace clasps, fit new shanks, retip claws, replace settings and lots more.
We offer a personal bespoke service to design a unique piece of jewellery. From an initial pencil drawing, using traditional skills combined with modern computer aided design, we will work with you from the initial concept right through to the creation of the final piece to allow you to create something that is personal and totally original to you.
Bring along your unwanted gold, platinum and silver items of jewellery and turn them into cash. Simply call in with your items and we will assess them for purity and weight then give you a price calculated against daily precious metal prices. An offer will be given immediately and we can pay you cash or via BACS.
Over time your jewellery may appear dull and lacking its usual sparkle, Simply bring your items to David Moss Jeweller and for a small fee we will clean them professionally, including pre-clean, hand & machine polishing followed by a final ultrasonic clean to renew their original sparkle, we also check the condition and advise if any remedial work is required.
Watch batteries in most cases can usually be replaced in-store within 15-30 minutes. We only use high quality batteries for lasting efficiency and recommend changing battery every 2 years to prevent any possible corrosion to the movement. Some watches may require a re-seal and pressure testing to guarantee their water resistance properties, this is carried out by our watchmaker and usually takes 10-14 days.

I always go to this jewellers whenever I need a watch battery and have received excellent service. In addition, I called in today asking them to make a minor adjustment to the bracelet of my watch. They did it straight away while I waited and did not charge me for it, despite me being willing to pay. Highly recommended!

I went to many of the high street jewellers for my engagement and wedding rings last year and didn’t quite find what I wanted and then looked at local jewellers and found David Moss. I’m so glad I did, David and his staff, particularly Bev, are so welcoming and wanting you to find exactly what you want without any pressure at all. I was so impressed that when I lost a diamond from a ring I had with great sentimental value, the only person I would trust it with was David. My daughter then took her friend there who bought an inexpensive chain for a locket she had and they took the time to find

Our experience with David Moss Jewellers was second to none. From the moment of walking into the shop, David and his staff were extremely welcoming. David spent time explaining to us the different materials and stones with regards to the engagement ring. The ring was finished to a great quality and price, nothing was too much to ask of him.

Today I picked up my special pieces of jewellery made just for me by David.
He made me a star which he encased my dads ashes as a very precious keep sake.
He also redesigned my old engagement ring to bring it into the 21st century.
Both made me feel so happy and emotional.

I had my wife’s Engagement ring, Wedding Ring and my own wedding ring designed and manufactured at David Moss Jewellers. He is very precise and accurate with his work, everything he does he does to his own high standards.
The staff were very helpful and welcoming.
Considering that the rings were bespoke made the price is very reasonable . The rings 4 weeks to make, and were presented lovely very high quality boxes.
I would defiantly recommend!!!
