The Watson family have been farming here in the Dart Valley for over thirty five years. Way back in 1983, Ben started making sausages - made from pigs raised on the farm - and selling at Totnes market - and so the farm shop was born! We now have four thriving shops based throughout Devon and Ben's Wine & Tapas Bar in Totnes High Street.
We believe in good, honest food from environmentally sustainable farming. Food should have a story - and because we source ours direct from our trusted producers and growers, we can tell it - from field to fork. From our award winning sausages to bacon, burgers, gammon and charcuterie everything is made from scratch by our team of skilled butchers, using only the very finest ingredients - the ones we sell in the shops of course!

Services
The Watson family has farmed the 350 hectare Riverford Farm for over 60 years, more than thirty of which have been spent working to bring back the taste and quality of fresh, traditional food. We're doing this through our farm shops, with their butchery, fresh vegetable, grocery and deli counters, the organic vegetable box business and the dairy.
At the Farm Shop we don't treat cooking as a precise science. Nor are we trying to give a comprehensive list of recipes. These are some of our favourite dishes and we hope you'll give some of them a try. They've worked for us on countless occasions but that doesn't mean, with a bit of imagination and a few tweaks, they can't be improved.
Our Staverton shop has grown over the years, but as a real farm shop the traditional butcher's counter and 'endless harvest festival' fruit and vegetable areas are still at the heart of things. You'll also find carefully chosen ranges of provisions, wine, beer, cider, soft drinks, cheese etc. We stock Riverford Organic Dairy products and of course our 'old favourite' pies and pasties.
A new offering to our business. After a year of being cooped up inside, we wanted to celebrate the outdoors and what better way than with our love of barbecue. So, who is Harry you ask? If you are familiar with our Tapas bar in Totnes you may have heard of Harry running the show over there. Being the son of Ben, Harry has been a very active member of the farm shops since he was a boy.

Our first experience of Ben’s farm shop can unfortunately only be described as disappointing. After waiting 30 minutes in an empty restaurant our breakfast arrived, to a poor standard. After paying £24 for breakfast for two, we were totally underwhelmed. The toast was so stale and hard, it was inedible, the beans dry and overcooked, the eggs… rubbery and overcooked also. Our table was dirty on arrival, we cleaned it ourselves, at no point did anyone come and check on us, to see whether we were happy with our food or service. Surprisingly poor service, considering the amount of

We shop at Ben’s Farm Shop at Staverton most weeks . The food is really good and the staff so helpful. The coffee and cake is good too. We decided to order our Xmas food from there. We were very impressed, we arrived at our collection time and it was all ready in a box and the food was lovely. We will certainly order our Xmas food from here next year . Well done 👍👍

Loved the variety of whole foods. Especially the Gluten free options available . Its shops like this that makes shopping normal . thank you. Also that you sell Burrows Farm cider brings back lovely memories of… living in Martock, Somerset and sold off the keg. We also stopped for coffee which was very good. Seasonal Winter Coffees were available. All staff we met were helpful . We will be back .

Great local shop. Good stock of local veggies, meat and other sundries. I bought some rib eye steaks here and they turned out very nice.
Easy to talk to butchers who are friendly and happy to accommodate you.
They run a little burger grill outside which is very nice, friendly staff who are happy to chat. Pay inside as well so you can order a burger and buy your stuff at the same time.
