Whether individual units or part of an extended property portfolio, buildings are valuable assets requiring professional management. Costs associated with purchase, refurbishment and maintenance, must always be carefully assessed. It is our job to reconcile these factors taking account of the client's requirements.

Services
We as building surveyors understand how buildings are put together, how they work and why they sometimes fail. We can draw on our broad range of experience to analyse the cause of defect and advise on the remedial measures required. Hughes Jay & Panter provide a variety of surveys offering technical advice and ensuring clients can make a reasoned and informed judgement when purchasing, maintaining or altering properties.
Once a project has been designed and specified we are able to continue our service through to completion. Our Contract Administration role might include sending the project to competitive tender, reporting of tenders, selecting appropriate building contracts and overseeing the works on site.
The wide range of expertise and flexible approach offered by Hughes Jay & Panter mean we are able to provide services to suit refurbishment, new build or development projects and provide alternative services such as Project Co-ordination and Employers Agent.

We have an in depth understanding of how buildings are constructed and perform enabling us to design and specify work appropriately for the property and client. We have a knowledge of new building technologies and products in addition to traditional methods of construction allowing us to find a solution to any problem in the built environment.
We are able to carry out drone surveys of properties where access arrangements or costs make it difficult to utilise traditional methods. A drone survey is particularly useful on large commercial premises such as warehouses where roofs and frames are not easily inspected. They are also an invaluable tool when inspecting period properties where butterfly roofs and parapet gutters are often inaccessible.
Following the outcome of the Hackitt Report (Building a Safer Future) the safety of high rise buildings with cladding has been under scrutiny. A significant number of buildings with cladding now need remedial work to ensure the safety of their occupants.
