Services
Compulsory basic training (CBT) is a course you usually have to take before you ride a moped or motorcycle on the road. The training makes sure you can ride safely on your own while you practise for your full moped or motorcycle test. You must pass your full moped or motorcycle test within 2 years, or you have to either take CBT again or stop riding.
Have you mastered the basics but want to get more out of your riding? Improve on your riding skills or confidence?! At ALBA MTA we offer various advanced rider training and awards and will advise you which course is the most suitable for you - taking your ultimate aims into consideration. A good rider never stops learning.
At Alba MTA, we offer 'Pre-CBT' lessons, which are of great benefit for our novice students. Whom would like a little extra tuition to help build their Confidence and Skills or even just to get an idea if riding a motorcycle or scooter is for them before committing to and paying for a full CBT course.
Everyone must complete a CBT if they wish to ride a bike bigger than a moped*. This means you can ride a moped without any prior training, nor will you have to display L-plates plus you are able to take passengers. That said, it would be a bit silly hopping onto a moped without some sort of training beforehand - a CBT day is a perfect introduction.
I am very delighted to have passed my CBT with Alba MTA today! I would definitely recommend their services to any new riders, looking to prepare for and pass their CBT. The instructors are patient, knowledgable and caring - they let you go at your own pace and comfort, ensuring now only that you are confident and sure in your skill, but also safe and in control of your machine.

Racist company.
This review is a little late but i have to say it. I arrived at Alba on the day of my training. We had a short introduction on how we should drive and an explanation to what are the parts of a moped. Then we got on our mopeds and the instructor basically told us to ride in a straight line from point a to point b. I was unable to hold my balance on the moped and after almost an hour the instructor said go home and no money back not even a discount, and no tips or techniques on how i should hold my balance on a moped. "Training" started at 08:30, at 10:23 my taxi arrived to take

10/10, would highly recommend Alba Motorcycle Training Academy to anyone wanting to get their CBT done. My instructor Callum, was very professional, kind & passionate. His attitude and professionalism truly reflected what Alba stands for and he really made the whole experience enjoyable and reassuring. I walked away from here feeling delighted as I learned a lot and developed the confidence to drive a bike safely on the roads.

I have recently bought a bike after a long period of not owning one. I contacted Alba for advice regarding refresher or back to bike training. Calum contacted me and arranged for me to have a 1:1 session. He was a fantastic instructor giving me great advice and confidence to return to motorcycling. I strongly recommend anyone wanting to learn to ride a motorcycle to get booked in with Alba.

Recently sat CBT with Alba, great day. Relaxed training, nice and clean well looked after bikes. A perfect experience.
Probably worth noting for anybody thinking of doing the same that CBT's are not held at the Summer Street address. They are done at an address in the Clydesmill industrial estate in Cambuslang area. I didn't realise this until receiving confirmation email. Thanks for a great day! Hopefully be with you again soon for DAS

The instructors were professional and knowledgeable both on my pre-CBT and CBT courses. They taught me very well and thanks to that I passed my course with no problems. Very happy with my experience at Alba School of Motoring and would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to learn to ride a scooter or motorbike.

An absolute fantastic day out with the guys from Alba. Really know there stuff and cater it to your overall experience.
Never ridden a bike before but they are really patient and accommodating.
One of the best experiences ever and well worth the time and money spent. Couldn’t thank the guys enough for the day. Terrific weather for it. Could not recommend these guys any more and certainly passed on details over to a few mates who are looking also.
But seriously guys if your interested in any of there courses then go for it.

I went from CBT to full license with Alba with first time passes on both mod1 and mod2 tests.
If you want to learn to ride a bike properly, then this is the place to go. The whole team are great.
I trained primarily with Alex, and have to say a heartfelt thanks for his instruction and guidance in getting me through my tests. Professional throughout but relaxed and fun.
From the minute you walk through the door you feel welcomed and part of a family which extends beyond passing your test.
I can't rate them highly enough and would strongly recommend them to anyone wanting to learn to ride. Thanks

Completed my CBT with Alba and can't recommend them enough, all the instructors are genuine bikers and a great bunch to learn from. They know how to help you progress at a pace that makes you feel safe and comfortable and not trying to rush you through. I went from an anxious novice in the training to feeling very relaxed and safe on the road in just a few lessons so a big thanks to everyone at Alba that helped with my progression (especially John) and the office staff for booking me in whenever they could. So glad I went to Alba!! Cheers guys 👍
