Introduced in 1990 Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) was bought in to help reduce the amount of motorcycle and scooter accidents among inexperienced riders and those new to riding on the roads. There are five main elements (A-E) to CBT. Each must be completed satisfactorily before a CBT Certificate (DL196) can be issued.
In order to take a DAS, A1 or A2 courses you must hold a Provisional or Full Driving Licence and a valid CBT certificate before you can undertake practical instruction. Before taking the practical test you must also however have passed your theory test. If you are aged 17 or over, you can take your theory test and then both parts of the practical motorcycle test using a 125cc motorcycle or scooter of 14.68BHP (11KW) of power.
Well congratulations, so you've passed your practical test, and are now maybe about to go out and buy your first big boys (or girls!) powerful bike! We can make that transition easier and smoother, raising your confidence and competency levels on your new bike. We will give you any advice you need and go through any problems you may have with it.
At the Right Way Motorcycle Training we have a range of bikes to suit your style of riding. All bikes are insured and maintained to a very high standard to ensure your safety, helmets and gloves are available for you to use but you are welcome to bring your own (If you bring your own helmet, IT MUST be road legal).
The Right Way Motorcyle training are able to now offer you Advanced Motorcycle Training through the DSA Enhanced Rider Scheme (ERS). We can improve the way you ride so that you are safer, smoother and more systematic. Once you have reached the specified standard, you will be issued with the Enhanced Rider Scheme Certificate, which can qualify you for a discount (up to 15%) from many leading motorcycle insurers.

Simon is definitely over 5 out of 5 he provides the best teaching environment to ensure that you do your best to pass. Very clear and understandable instructions and firm voiced when he needs you to correct your mistake it's made my day to pass my CBT under Simon and I will be going back to do my A2 and then A category bike tests. Definitely a strong recommendation to go with The Right Way Motorcycle Training and I will be sending my friends his way

Excellent instructor and makes you feel calm a comfortable. Anyone thinking of getting into riding on 2 wheels or feels like they need a refresher after not riding for a while, i highly recommend. Helped me feel more confident in my riding as i hadn't been on the road for a fair while (on 2 wheels) and now looking to go futher with my DAS with Simon. Personally one of my best instructors ive had be it car or bike.

I had my CBT with Simon who is a natural leader , professional and great Instructor who increase your confidence minute by minute , is not taking longer to understand he lives and breathes motorbike, a true passionate about safe code and all important matters to transform you in a safer rider.
Enjoyed every single minute of the course ,I totally recommend Him to send your son or daughter for the first time CBT or if it is your first time as adult. He has the experience and the instrumental to keep you safe , motivated and confident.

Did my auto CBT with Simon last year and returned again a couple of weeks back to complete the manual CBT in readiness for my DAS once DVSA release dates.
Simon is a really nice guy, he instantly puts you at ease with his wit and charm. He instills trust and positivity in you which in turn makes you a more confident rider.

In the space of two weeks I went from having never ridden a motorcycle before to passing CBT, plus Mod 1 & 2 of my full licence. Simon's approach to training is exceptional, if you want first class training to put you in the best position possible to pass your tests - Simon's your guy. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to friends and family

I passed DAS first attempt several days ago and can still hear Simon 'are you on fire? What's the rush? Slow it down!' lol...all jokes aside, Simon's meticulous attention to detail, clear, concise and easy to understand instructions, unlimited patience and overall professionalism, oh and he can fly a Tiger Moth, make the whole process enjoyable, educational, and easy to get through...even for a patience draining student like me! Look no further, highly recommended!
