The Jigger House, Water Wheel and Buddle House are currently closed for restoration works. We have thousands of objects available at the museum, many of which are on public display. We are delighted to be the home of the Weardale tub. Taking inspiration from on of lead mining tubs, local artist Mark Burns Cassell's idea was brought to life by artist and sculptor Dr Ron Lawson; who built the metal frame of the tub.

At Killhope, we have a Green Policy that follows the 10 principles of a sustainable environment as stated by Durham County Council. We follow these principles in everything that we do. You can also follow these principles at home. Efficient use of energy - we use low energy light bulbs where we can and make sure all our electrical equipment is switched off when not in use.
We love to see you and your pets, however we ask that you keep them on the lead and under control while anywhere on site or in the car park. You will find water bowls near the picnic site - plus Killhope burn runs through the site. Dogs can go anywhere on site except into Park Level Mine, the caf and the play area.
