Established in Congleton, Cheshire in 1984, Lyn Thompson's original practice was in what is now Weatherspoons. We moved to 27 West Street, and then to our current location at 5 West Street in 1996. In 2013 we were delighted to be able to enlarge our premises by expanding into number 7 West Street. The newly equiped extension is called Congleton Eyecare Centre.
L. Thompson Optometrists have been supplying quality eye care for the whole family since 1983. Our test rooms are well equiped with the latest technology to ensure the best standard of care for your eyes. We provide NHS and private eye examinations, contact lens fitting and supply, paediatric eye examinations, diabetic retinopathy screening, low vision aids, dry eye management and a same day acute eye emergency service.
Having outgrown our 5 West Street practice where we have been based since 1996, we decided to expand sideways into no 7. With this expansion in space we decided to expand in services and staff. These enhancements are. Our Congleton practice has two new spacious test rooms with 'state of the art' equipment.
For some people glasses alone do not give the vision needed to comfortably read or perform daily tasks. There are many eye conditions that can cause low vision. Some examples of these conditions are age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and maculopathy, retinitis pigmentosa and albinism.
We offer a specialist Dry Eye Clinic where we ask questions about your specific symptoms then we have a closer look at your lids, lashes and the front surface, tear film of your eyes. After this assessment we will recommend treatments which you can use for a couple of weeks and then return for a follow up assessment.

I would just like to take a moment to recommend L. Thompson Optometrists on West Street, Congleton.
They are simply the best & really do go above & beyond!
My youngest daughter (Jessica) is sight impaired & although unfortunately glasses can't fully correct her vision they do help. Although we moved from Congleton 80 miles to Bridgnorth in July 17 we still come back to Congleton to take Jessica's hospital prescriptions to L. Thompson. They were also excellent with my eldest daughter's sight test & dry eyes. Believe me when I say we have tried a LOT of opticians & now wouldn't go anywhere else
