Drover Cycles is run by Anna and Luke. We love bikes and have between us clocked up tens of thousands of on and off-road miles here in Powys and all over the world. Although we're a small shop, we cater for all kinds of cyclists and offer a range of road, MTB, leisure, touring and BMX bikes from brands we know and trust.
Our focus is on value for money, excellent customer service and great product knowledge all delivered in a friendly and approachable style! So, whether you're a local or a visitor, call in at Drover Cycles soon to see what we have in store. What type of cycling are you into? I love cycling as a means of seeing the world, so the terrain is less important than the landscape, people, weather and food I encounter along the way.

Services
The Drover Cycles hire fleet is the most comprehensive in Wales, with a wide range of rental bikes for all ages and riding styles. Our bikes are high quality and we clean and service them after every single hire, which means they are always in tip-top condition! We offer two options for collection/return: come to our base in Hay on Wye or, if you're not in Hay, we will deliver bikes directly to your accommodation or start point of your ride.
Did you know that not only do we offer bike rental from our base in Hay on Wye, on the Powys-Herefordshire border in the Brecon Beacons National Park, but that we can also deliver hire bikes all over south- and mid-Wales, and indeed further afield by special arrangement? For advance bookings of two or more bikes for two days or longer, we offer free delivery within 15 miles of our HQ in the book town of Hay on Wye.
For 2021, we have planned our most extensive and exciting fleet of rental bikes ever! Full details of all of the bikes will be posted here as we build them up, but here is a summary of what we will have available for hire this year. Our Standard Mountain Bikes will be Marin Bobcat Trail 4s and we will have both 27.5"/650b and 29" options in the fleet.
On the eastern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, our back yard has endless trails providing world-class mountain biking. And for tarmac outings, we've got the rolling countryside of Herefordshire and the Radnorshire Marches to the north of our Hay-on-Wye HQ. To the South there are more testing ups and down, including the highest tarmac road in Wales - Gospel Pass!
In the summertime we're open 7 days a week, the same hours as our shop - 9am to 5.45pm Mon-Sat, 10am to 5pm on Sundays. We have a limited menu but everything we serve is tasty, freshly prepared and very reasonably priced. We don't do anything too fancy but we do believe in good food which us why we use quality, locally-sourced ingredients in our cafe.

I arrived at Hay-on-Wye at 4pm on a Sunday with a broken wheel, the 1st day of a 200 mile ride to Holyhead. Not only were Drover open but they fixed me up with new wheels from their own stock by 8.45 the next morning. Their mechanic comes in at 7.30. I completed the ride and am very grateful. Exceptional service and I whole-heartedly recommend them!

Always a pleasure to visit Drover Cycles. Luke, Anna and team always so helpful and friendly. Wide range of cycles to purchase or hire. Oomprehensive stock of accessories, spare psrts, clothing and tools. Good workshop facilities, so you stand a good chance of getting back on the road if you breakdown nearby. Convinient outdoor area for eats and drinks that can be purchased at their cafe adjacent to shop.

I am currently dealing with Luke to arrange buying a new bike and I have to say that he is one of the most helpful people I have spoken to when searching for a new bike. The fact the shop is nowhere near where I live says it all. I would not go anywhere else now. Very knowledgeable, polite and does what he says he is going to do, which does not happen much these days, so when it does it makes me happy! If you want great service and prompt responses give these guys a go. Cheers Luke :)

Exceptional customer service , preordered a new bike during the pandemic, I was kept up to date from bike production to transport delivery and pre delivery inspection . Faultless on the support on bike repair along with a great delivery service on parts bought online during the last few years . Friendly and helpful staff , all in all a great bike shop and more than happy to travel for such a great service .

Had a bit of a mechanical whilst up on the Gospel pass yesterday afternoon. Luckily my son was able to collect me in his car and we called in Drover cycles on our return to our holiday home in Hay. Top marks to Luke for sorting my front brake whilst I waited. This has allowed me to get some more miles in before we return home on Saturday. Lovely people in the shop and they serve a good cup of coffee from the cafe. Great service Thanks

Cannot compliment Drover Cycles enough, nothing is too much trouble!, just been to Hay-on-Wye, halfway through a ride, needed some brake pads and some lunch, in between finding my pads, re-spoking someone’s wheel and sorting out bike hire, Luke managed to make us a lovely cup of coffee and a bacon butty to die for!.....fantastic place!....
