Over 60 years ago my father established this opticians as Morris King's in my Grandmother's front room just around the corner. In 1957 my father moved to these premises where we have practised optometry with an excellent 'patient first' philosophy ever since. For all that time we have combined traditional customer service with cutting edge examination techniques in a relaxed atmosphere.
An Eye Test or Eye Examination is a series of tests which allow an optometrist or optician to look at your eyes and examine how well they are functioning and whether you need any sight aids such as spectacles (eye glasses) and to look at the general health of your eyes.
Whilst we have a core set of tests that we perform, each sight test will be tailored to your individual needs, and your optician will use varying tests and equipment to make sure they have the fullest picture of your optical health.

This convenient 'book an appointment' service uses a direct link to our in-practice clinical diary and may take a few seconds to connect and load. Our simple booking process should take no more than a couple of minutes to complete and allows you to select your favoured date and time on the calendar style diary, along with your preferred optometrist from the options available.
In Myopia (short sightedness), the eye is longer than normal or the cornea is too steep, so that light rays focus in front of the retina. Near objects are clear, but distant objects appear blurred. For the most part, this is an inconvenience considering how frustrating it can be to be dependent on contact lenses or spectacles.

Marina went above and beyond to fit my Mother in at the last minute and test her eyes when she was ill. We are all so grateful and she soothed any anxieties my Mother had and made sure she got her a new prescription and glasses extremely quickly which was such a help in a difficult time. We are so lucky to have an amazing and established local service on our doorstep, thank you Marina!

So pleased with my new specs. I looked around on Google Places and came across Marina King, and I can personally attest as to why she has such a high rating, her services and that of all her staff is really good!
I was not able to go in and collect, so my specs were posted to me and arrived within 24 hours. Happy Me 🤓

I have been coming to Marina King for years, and took my Dad to see her father Morris King. Marina then took over the business. Marina is a highly professional Optometrist. She is a very pleasant woman and has a good sense of humour. The service she provides is top notch. I drive 20 minutes from home to have my eyes checked. Wouldn't consider going to anyone else. I have just had another full check on sight and eye health and she had full PPE on and everything felt safe and very clean. I highly recommend Marina King.

Absolutely brilliant service. I was going to book my eye examination with one of the big named opticians, I'm glad I never. Professional, courteous and made me relax with a bit of humour, which I instigated ;-)
There two ladies on reception who were very helpful and assisted me choose some new glasses, which means I spent some money in there. Very glad I did. I am now looking forward to my two new specs, one specifically for the computer screen (recommended by the optician).
You have to try the eye photo machine. Oh wow!!! I saw my eyes in 3D. The main purpose of the machine is to check for glaucoma

Hard to imagine a better service. State-of-the-art equipment used whenever you have your eyes tested. unfailingly friendly and helpful staff, big range of frames and first-rate and rapid repair service. My family has used first Morris and now Marina King for over 30 years. Would never consider going anywhere else.

We were thrilled with the professional, individual and caring service this optician gave my daughter. She was upset about needing glasses and they went above and beyond to help her including giving her loads of time to choose a pair and even a special case. They had a huge and varied selection and they made it fun. I felt they really gave her special attention and made the whole experience easy for us all. A easy 5 stars from us!
