North East Of Scotland Music School
NESMS exists to provide tuition at an advanced level for musically talented individuals of all ages. To do this we bring internationally recognized teachers to our centre in Aberdeen on a regular basis - normally nine times a year. We have four teaching studios, one of which is large enough to hold small concerts or recitals, and an extensive library.

The studios each have pianos (two Boston grands and two Essex uprights) purchased from Steinway in 2014. We know that success in public performance increases musical confidence and awareness.
Services
At NESMS we believe that small is beautiful - that what matters is the quality of the teaching and the friendliness of the staff, not the size of the building. But we do have excellent, well-equipped studios and a fine music library. Acknowledged experts come on a regular basis from all over the British Isles to give one-to-one coaching and advice on technique and performance - and to provide occasional workshops and master-classes.
Our piano tutor Joseph Long is able to offer extra help if needed to students who may be preparing for Theory at ABRSM or Trinity Grade 5 or above at an hourly rate of 40, no matter what instrument they are studying. He can also offer coaching if needed towards Aural or Sight-reading in practical exams at Grades 6-8.
Founded in 1975 by Dorothy Hately, the North East of Scotland Music School is a Scottish charity based in Aberdeen. Its aim is to provide, at the lowest possible cost, the highest possible standard of tuition for promising musicians. NESMS operates as a non-profit-making company limited by guarantee.

I had heard about this place as I was beginning to out-grow my violin teacher around grade 7 and decided to go along. I was a bit scared, because I'm not exactly a musical maestro and I knew I wouldn't be up to a decent standard. But the staff were absolutely lovely and very welcoming, and the violin teacher - Gillian Findlay - was amazing! She could see I was nervous and put me right at ease. Everything she told me was extremely beneficial and she took me through my final two grades.

The North East Music School is practically an institution. It has a regular newsletter that I get every
