Cambridge University Cricket Club is the original Blues sport, with records dating back to 1820. The historic Fenner's Cricket Ground has been the home of the CUCC since 1848. Over the years, CUCC has produced many great cricketers, including 21 test captains, 62 test players and noted senior administrators.
Today, CUCC is a club of over 100 students, spread across three men's and two women's squads. The Club competes annually against Oxford in the Varsity matches (T20, One-day and 4-day), as well as BUCS and other historic fixtures. The University Match is the annual fixture between Oxford University Cricket Club and Cambridge University Cricket Club.

The Blues team compete in the BUCS Premier League as the Cambridge University Centre of Cricketing Excellence (Cambridge UCCE). The season culminates in the University Varsity Matches against Oxford. The one-day match is held at Lord's, and a four-day match with first-class status is played at Fenner's (Cambridge) or The Parks (Oxford).
The Quidnuncs was formed in 1851 and within a few years became the premier cricket club at Cambridge; indeed the privilege of wearing their colours, dark blue, light yellow and black is second only to a Blue as a cricket honour. In his History of Cambridge University Cricket Club, W.J. Ford states that Quidnuncs matches were always popular as they always provided claret-cup or badminton.
