We want you to feel confident and supported whatever your needs, whether it's an eye test, choosing new glasses, making the change to contact lenses or any other service we can help with.
Woodhouse Opticians is a family business and we've been helping other families from our practice in Highfield Road in the South Shore area of Blackpool for more than five decades. As the saying goes, we were built to last. Our dedicated, friendly and qualified team have many years of combined service with Woodhouse meaning they understand both our customers and the best ways to help them.
Our eye examination tests are thorough so we can really get a complete picture of your eyes' health. Your examination appointment will take 40 minutes and use the very best clinical equipment with the results analysed by our experienced staff. People are often surprised by the detail provided by our eye examinations - our view is that with something as important as your sight, you want the best information.
This means you can see clearly close-up but find that distant objects are blurred. You will probably need glasses or contact lenses for many everyday activities, including driving, playing sport or watching TV. This occurs when the front of the eye surface is not perfectly round. Your vision could be blurred at all distances and depending on the degree of astigmatism you may need to wear glasses at all times.

I have just signed up with Woodhouse and they made me feel so welcomed. I had an though examination on my eyes today all staff was very thoughtful and there customer service is second to none I would highly recommend this opticians as all staff was full of knowledge and seemed very well trained I was uncomfortable about anything 10 out of 10 throughout the board.

They have been looking after my eyes since I was five years old and now they look after my wife and kids eyes too with the same excellent care they have always offered.
When my wife needed glasses they offered us a payment plan, when I had some unpleasantness stuck in my eye (rugby related) they saw me within an hour, if my children are nervous they offer friendly encouragement.
They have always offered a friendly, professional, person centred service that I could not recommend highly enough. I fully trust them to have my family's best interests in the heart of what they do.

So here I am less than a week later following my bi- annual extensive eye test with Steve and the team and I’m already wearing my new specs. Despite us all living through a pandemic, Woodhouse opticians continue to offer the very best personalised experience from beginning to end. I literally can’t thank them enough for diligently looking after me and my family for over 40 years! And to be sat here actually wearing the specs I chose only a few days ago is nothing short of amazing. Steve has invested so much into the business since Covid hit and I can honestly say I’ve never felt safer than

Excellent service, We got referred to this opticians from the Royal Manchester Eye hospital ,due to my 4 year old losing her glasses. They do the tomato glasses which she is so used to using. She was seen by a specialist the glasses was made and received within 2weeks. Fabulous service can't recommend this service enough.

Decided to try local optician for two reasons, first that Asda didn't seem to have any interest in my custom. Secondly Woodhouse's window dressing, one of the few local shops via their fantastic displays, to elevate and remind us of the village rd feel highfield Rd had in the 60s 70s. One worry I had was I would be given the hard sell treatment. This was not the case, when I asked for the cheapest options as on benefits. I was well informed by the friendly staff and left the shop feeling I had been treated well and received a good deal. The actual eye test was far more in-depth than my last one

I just like to say how wonderful the team are at Woodhouse Opticians. I was having problems with my glasses and as I use a computer all day it was giving me headaches. The team at Woodhouse were all so helpful and friendly. They found the right glasses that suit me and since then I have had lots of compliments about them. I would recommend anybody to go and see them if they are in need of an eye test and new glasses.
