La Trattoria [pronounced: La traht-to-ree-ah] is historically a small and traditional family run eatery, where guests are recommended to eat the freshly cooked special of the day. An Italian Restaurant co-owned by myself Vincenzo Tragni and local businessman Peter Downes. We aim to serve you with traditionally cooked family dishes, offering you only authentic recipes and something different to the larger chain restaurants.
I personally designed the menu and oversee all the cooking myself. That is why I can confidently say that all the dishes are served with pride, passion and a little bit of Italian 'amore'. Whilst serving high quality food is an obvious priority, making people feel at home and relaxed in our restaurant is also very important to me.

Throughly all enjoyed our starter.
Both me and my partner had calazone which was huge!
My experience- It was more like a pie!
I enjoyed it apart from the wafer thin ham in it, not very Italian?
My partner- Very overwhelmed didnt find it very tasty and only had a few bites.
My wife is pregnant and had asked for a water several times but they kept forgetting. In the end they did bring a jug.
Overall a good experience 😌 and would come again but maybe try something different 🤔

When looking for somewhere for a nice meal, I had a good feeling about this place. And I was right! Should have booked but they had a spare table. Complimentary appetiser was unexpected, and lovely. Had mains and dessert. Sensational, plate lickingly good food. True Italian food, by Italians. There were even Italians coming in to eat - a sign of a great restaurant indeed

This is a hidden gem, it took me a while to find it even on Google maps as its in an old house. We weren’t sure at first but thought we’d give it a go. Very warm welcome, nicely spaced tables. Option to eat outside or upstairs. Some on street parking but if not on the day there’s a lot of local parking. The food is great and reasonably priced. Toilets are clean and the staff are very helpful and attentive. There’s a reason it’s so highly rated. Give it a go.
