Sea Sanctuary is a unique mental health charity and one of the world's leading exponents of blue health, the concept that 'blue spaces', such as the sea, are beneficial for people's mental and emotional wellbeing. The Sea Sanctuary team has had years of success combining evidence-based therapies and counselling methods with marine-based activities that give people an invigorating sense of adventure along with the help and support they need to lift their spirits, overcome issues and find their sense of wellbeing.
Services
Sea Sanctuary is a unique mental health and wellbeing charity rooted in the concept of 'blue health'. We use a combination of sail training, marine activities and evidence-based therapies to help children and adults who are struggling with issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, and a whole range of varied mental and emotional health problems.
Jump on board and take a look at the different ways you can get involved with our work and ensure that we can help as many people as possible. We simply can not keep afloat without your generosity and help. Donations of any value are welcome and we are hugely grateful for any support you can give. We rely heavily on regular donations to enable us to continue our vital work and plan for the future.
Science is catching up with Sea Sanctuary, which has always put the sea are the heart of its therapeutic programmes. There's now a growing body of evidence that backs our belief in the positive benefits of marine activities. Blue health is becoming a popular topic all over the world, with more discussion and research taking place to uncover exactly how so-called blue spaces - such as the sea or lakes - benefit our health and wellbeing.
Sea Sanctuary takes mental health care away from formal clinical settings. Instead we deliver therapy in more informal ways centred on sailing and other marine activities with staff and clients taking part in everything together. It may sound like fun, but there's lots of science, research, data-crunching and risk assessing in the background.
We are supported in our work by a range of partners, both national and local, who recognise the importance and value of the work we do with people suffering from poor mental health and wellbeing and with those who need help with specific issues or wish to improve their resilience against life's ups and downs.

This experience was wonderful! The days and nights on the boat were amazing and will forever be etched into my memory. For me the experience was the perfect precursor to heading back into life and at the right time.
Great, compassionate and understanding staff who believe in the greater good and what they are doing.

Mum had an extraordinary experience with SS - hopes one day to come back for another sail also to reinforce the invaluable 'therapy' - brilliant 'staff' who were there to help support and listen - to validate her as a person no matter what. Mum never forgets you all & will always be grateful from her heart. Warmest wishes
