In the past, orthodontic treatment was expected to take place only during adolescent or teenage years. Dental braces were linked with the image of a young teenager, usually around the age of fourteen, wearing metal braces. Until some years ago, it was very rare to see an adult patient with dental braces.
Most children will have orthodontic treatment on the NHS if they have been referred by their general dental practitioner (GDP),t hey are under 18 years and have been assessed by a specialist orthodontist that they have a clear clinical need for treatment based on a rating system known as the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN).

I was in my mid fifties when I had my first consultation with Dr Samer. I had spent my life until then being always conscious of my crooked teeth and rarely smiling. Samer was confident he could significantly improve the straightness of my teeth and after around two years the result was amazing. It has had such an impact on me I'd describe it as life changing. Thank you so much to Samer and the team.
