The course is a par 71 measuring nearly 6,600 yards. Fast draining downland fairways ensure that the course stays playable throughout the year when many other courses are closed. As well as catering for the needs of golfers, the clubhouse has a large bar, dining room and function rooms making it an ideal venue for weddings or other functions.

We have invested considerably over recent years to both extend, improve and to modernise the clubhouse and course. We provide a warm and friendly welcome to all visitors and prospective new members.

Course Report

Opened in 1890 the course was originally designed by James Braid and is one of the UK's finest downland courses. Its chalk base allows for excellent drainage helping to ensure the course remains open and playable on fine surfaces all year round. Recent extensive renovation work lead to the course being lengthened to 6581 yards with a par of 71 and CSS of 72.

Dress Code Report

Banstead Downs Golf Club aims to operate a contemporary and forward thinking dress policy in line with a modern day golf club. It is in our interests to maintain reasonable standards of casual but smart dress in keeping with golfing standards. Members and visitors are therefore made aware that the following are required standards that must be adhered to both on the golf course and in the clubhouse.

Courtesy Golf Report

The practice of 'courtesy' of the course will be extended to Club Managers (GCMA/CMAE) members, Greenkeepers (BIGGA Members), Professionals (PGA Members), and Club Captains on no more than two occasions in a calendar year. Members of the above organisations and Club Captains are required to contact the General Manager or Golf Professional at least 48 hours before you wish to play at Banstead Downs to book your game.

Good challenging golf course. Recent visit after 20 year break - many long tough holes to a 70 par make it a difficult track. Very enjoyable and in good condition.

Played here at the end of Jan 2020 one Friday afternoon after there’d been a load of rain in the previous weeks and the course was a real surprise. Greens rolling true and amazingly fast for January. No plugged balls in fairway due to the course being on chalk. Some long holes, and a tough test - looking forward to playing here again in the summer.

Great condition and very friendly staff.
Greens were quick and fairways were good. The only thing that lets the course down is having to cross a busy dual carriageway twice due to the course being across two sides of the road.
Course has Avery good practise putting and dedicated chipping area, and nets in lieu of a range.
Would play again.

We were at Banstead Downs Golf Club today for my friend’s 80th Birthday Celebrations. We had a lovely 3 course lunch, including roast beef, which was fabulous. Staff were very friendly and very helpful.

Fantastic course with links like fairways but fast yet receptive greens, a pleasure to play. Wonderful clubhouse too which has great staff with the whole golfing experience made perfect by the friendly, helpful professional. Please do play this course first chance you get, you will not regret it!

Course in good condition and, as visitors, we received a warm welcome. An attractive but unchallenging course, where many holes are a little too similar. However, at £25 for a midweek round, it's hard to complain.

We had a fantastic 60th birthday party. The club and staff could not be more accommodating. Friendly. The menu chosen was quite simply excellent. helpful staff, excellent and the atmosphere very relaxed. Music proved by Hilltop Ceilidh band proved to be the icing on the cake!! Guests still talking how much fun they had. Would highly recommend both club and band.

Course played really well, and was well maintained despite the recent hot weather. It's a pain to cross the main road to get to part of the course but I really enjoyed the golf here. The bar is good as is the food and the staff are helpful and friendly.
