The most commonly used type of towbar in the UK is the flange tow bar. The flange towbar is the tow bar where the tow ball is bolted to the tow bar with bolts and works as the most versatile design.

Modern cars are becoming ever more complex and this means fitting tow bar electrics can be difficult. It is important to match the electrics to how you will be using your tow bar. For instance if you are towing a caravan the electrics would need to be different to those for a cycle carrier for instance.
This is because each kit is designed specifically for your vehicle rather than universal kits that would have to be soldered to connect the tow bar wiring. Dedicated vehicle specific wiring takes longer to fit than universal wiring and is more complex to fit and to code the electrics to their vehicle.
Over the years aftermarket universal wiring has been the option for connecting the tow bar electrics. Universal wiring kits are needed to connect the tow bar electrics to the car electrical system. Had a realy fair quote from trailer treck to come out and fit a towbar and electrics, I specified to them I didnt want electrics scotchlocked in, they assured me that it wasnt something they practiced, the mobile technician turned up early, nice professional chap, done a superb job, all soldered in, fused correctly, wiring super tidy and professional (I know as I'm a hgv technician) Realy happy, couldnt recomend enough.

Terrible Service, especially from the Wayne the MD. We needed to amend the fitting time on Thursday due to a problem with the key and they were extremely inflexible and refused to be at all accommodating. Then they refused to fit the tow bar and still charged us the full £150 deposit. Would never use them!

After fitting my towbar, the reversing sensors failed to work. Asked what trailertrek were going to do, and I got a mouthful of threats and abuse. So I posted a review online. Trailertrek phoned me and begged me to remove the review as it was "harming there business". They offered me a very good discount to remove the review which was so good, I could now afford to have the blown up sensors replaced. As a good will offer, I asked them to change the sensors, and after paying for that, I would have about broken even. Although they agreed, after 3 weeks and 3 visits/calls, one at 7 in the morning
