HCT Turf is a partnership established in 1973 by Vernon Hockley and George Cann, to supply turf and topsoil to homeowners, landscape gardeners and building developers. 25 years later as the business expanded Vernon's son Richard became an integral member of the team. And more recently George's daughter Stephanie has also come on board.

Originally based at Aylesbeare, we moved to our current premises in Topsham in 2012. Our current workforce of 6 consists of our delivery drivers James and Robbie, Paul, Rich and Joe maintaining and producing the turf, and Sarah co-ordinating the office. In 1988, responding to the demand for a more professional finish to landscaping projects, the partners researched the production of much finer seed grown turf.

We've been growing, supplying and laying across the South West for the last 40 years. During that time, we've helped homeowners, landscapers and commercial clients create beautiful outdoor spaces. We supply turf and topsoil to thousands of private gardens every year. These range from a few dozen rolls for someone who knows nothing about grass to large and elaborate gardens belonging to serious gardeners.

Following a terrible experience from another well known national supplier, resulting in delivery delays, ruined turf and refunds still pending to the day, I reached out to HCT turf upon recommendation in a cry for help. The lady non the phone was incredibly helpful and managed to turn around a speedy delivery within 24 hours. This was very much appreciated after all the hassle and meant that we could get the garden straight ASAP. Delivery man was friendly and very helpful in wheelbarrowing the sods to our back gate from the road (tricky access). A week later and the turf has already started to

Very happy with the service from HCT. Turf was lovely and green, even thickness, no weeds. Garden is looking good now!
