First and foremost, a home. Some of us work here, some of us live here, but whatever we're doing, we're doing it together. Stonebridge supports adults (18 yrs +) living with moderate to severe dementia and/or enduring mental illness; we specialise in caring for those who express their frustration, anger, pain or boredom through risk behaviours, more usually labelled as "challenging" or "aggressive".
Our approach, training and staffing levels mean that we can be more effective at recognising triggers; earlier interventions reduce the risk of harm and we often see much more evidence of well-being. So, here we are about to go into our fifth week of lockdown.

Services
We provide 24 hour nursing care for adults aged 18 years and over who are living with dementia and/or mental illness; we aim to be person-centred in our care and this may mean that our goals, and the ways in which the Home is presented and operates, differ from more traditional care settings. Stonebridge is, first and foremost, a home; some of us work here, some of us live here, but whatever we're doing, we're doing it together.
The challenge of care home living is facing the preconception that hotel style accommodation is desirable above all else; we have no interest in meeting the needs of anyone but the people who live here, and people with dementia must be free to rummage, explore, move, and yes, that sometimes means things get broken, or need redecorating!
Our trained team is made up of predominantly RMN's (Registered Mental Nurse), complemented by RGN's (Registered General Nurse) - this is to ensure that all areas of need, both physical & mental, are assessed and met. New care staff undergo rigorous induction, classroom based for 8 days where they cover all legally required training before they start to work in the home itself.
I have tried to write this card so many times and not succeeded, as it is really difficult to tell you all how much you are appreciated and how thankful we are that Dad ended his dementia journey with you all. We do not think of you as Stonebridge nursing home, but as friends and family. Apologies for the delay in writing this, but I wanted to thank you all so much for Dad's care prior to his passing in February.

We were lucky enough to find Stonebridge nursing home for Dad who was sadly approaching the latter stages of dementia. Due to Dad’s dementia, he could at times be difficult to manage which made finding a suitable home complicated and stressful. After the first two homes had proved unsuitable, we found Stonebridge. The management seemed confident they could look after Dad. I was a little sceptical at first because the last nursing home had said the same thing. We were quickly able to breath a sigh of relief. The Stonebrige nursing home team are fantastic at caring for dementia patients. Dad looked
