Welcome to Acu-therapy, acupuncture in Surrey, covering Reigate, Redhill and surrounds. We are also qualified naturopathic practitioners and can offer lifestyle choices and natural therapies to aid your return to optimum health. Acupuncture is an ancient form of medicine based on the principle of energy called 'qi' (pronounced 'chee').

When our qi is balanced and full we feel well but if it becomes blocked or stuck then we feel pain or ill. The principle of acupuncture is to unblock and boost qi so that we become pain free and well. If you are unfamiliar with acupuncture, the treatment involves the insertion of fine needles into specific acupuncture points located along meridians or channels that circulate qi around the body.

Hello, I am Alison Duncan, a qualified Acupuncturist and Naturopath. I trained at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London and I have spent two years working at the college as a clinical supervisor. I practice in Reigate and Redhill and surrounding areas. I also offer a mobile service by arrangement.
Naturopathy is a medical system based on the healing power of nature. It is an ancient system based on the philosophy that the body has the ablility to heal itself if given the right conditions. Naturopathic medicine includes many natural practices to restore us to optimum health. These include lifestyle choices, exercise, diet, homeopathy, acupuncture and herbal medicine.
Before any acupuncture treatment it is important to find out as much as possible about you and your condition. A full history will be taken on the first session and so this will last approximately 1.5 hours. An individual treatment plan will be made for you based on the findings of your history. Subsequent session last 45 mins to 1 hour.
Traditional acupuncture uses the concept of Qi (energy) flowing in channels throughout the body. Blockage or depletion of Qi results in a pathology or disharmony in the corresponding organ or tissue. The insertion of very fine needles into specific points along the channels increases the flow of qi and blood to the local area and along the path of the channel, thus relieving presenting symptoms.
Auricular (or ear) acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific point on the ear. The ear can be considered as having a map of the human foetus placed upside down, the corresponding positions of limbs and organs can then be placed within the ear. With this map we can see how it can be possible to treat many conditions affecting many different organs.
