The Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (ATCM) is one of the main self-regulatory bodies that govern the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in the UK. TCM is a system of medicine that includes acupuncture, herbal medicine and therapeutic massage called Tuina. Members are professionally qualified in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and Tuina massage.

The ATCM is actively engaged in academic study and ongoing research into the clinical application of Traditional Chinese Medicine. We have been working closely with the Department of Health and Health Professions' Council with a view to establishing statutory regulation in the UK for TCM practitioners.
Services
All traditional chinese medicine practitioners of the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture UK have completed a thorough training of at least three years in traditional Chinese acupuncture, or Chinese herbal medicine or both and bio medical sciences appropriate to the practice of TCM.
The Code of Practice is published by the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture UK (ATCM) to define the hygiene and safety standards relating to the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Members must ensure that they have received adequate training in all aspects of hygiene and sterile procedures connected with their work, and that they meet the standards outlined in this Code.
The Code of Professional Conduct is approved and published by the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture UK (ATCM) for guidance and for the protection of patients in relation to the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It is also serves to explain to people outside the TCM profession the high standards under which our members operate.

The ATCM Council has specified the above standards into three criteria for admission of membership. For applicants living outside London, we have other locations for admission interviews. Those applicants could choose one of the following locations: Scotland, Manchester, Crew, Sheffield, Birmingham, Lincoln, Bristol to attend, just simply state this preference at the top right corner of their completed ATCM Membership Application Form.
