In 2002 Transwaste Recycling and Aggregates Ltd started trading from Hessle Dock, Livingston Road which is just to the west of Hull near the Humber Bridge. The site was a purpose-built waste transfer station and over 500,000 tonnes of waste is now handled through the facility, with only approximately 5% being landfilled.
Transwaste recognises its responsibilities and obligations to the local community and the wider environment for its environmental impact. It is committed to complying with all relevant environmental legislation at a local, regional, national and European level. Recycling and processing of used materials (waste) into new products delivers many benefits to the environment.
Skips can be dropped at almost any location as long as it is accessible and does not block any entrance, exits or disrupt traffic movement. However if the skip is required on a highway we must gain permission from the local authority plus pay a small permit charge. If the skip is located on the road in Hull then you can keep it for a week and if the skip is in East Riding then you can keep it for two weeks then have to renew the permit.
We currently have 3 different types of fuel created from segregated waste that have been treated and made to specification. These fuel types have been used in Biomass Plants, Waste to Energy Plants and also used to heat cement kilns. All of our wood waste, which has mainly come from construction and demolition sites is fed through shredders and then screened.
We have a fleet of tipper Lorries ranging from our smallest vehicle which can carry 8 tonnes of material, up to our largest which holds 20 tonnes. With these vehicles we can deliver a range of aggregates. These can be our own recycled crushed concrete and brick hard-core, quarried materials such as limestone, sand and gravel, and even decorative products such as granite and slate.
