Much has changed since we opened our auction house in Heathfield, East Sussex in 1873, but one thing has remained unaltered: our commitment to providing a personal, professional service covering fine art, antique furniture, pictures, collectors items, general sale items, valuations (probate, insurance or sale) and a complete clearance service.
We take great pride in our reputation, and the long-standing relationships we enjoy with buyers, sellers, dealers, solicitors and other clients worldwide. We run several types of sale including a General Auction every Tuesday with up to 600 lots, an Antique & Collectables Auction three/four times a year with up to 500 lots, two Automobilia & Toy Auctions as well as an annual Garden & Statuary Auction.

Services
We hold a weekly General Auction throughout the year, with up to 600 lots going under the hammer every Tuesday at our dedicated saleroom in Heathfield. These sales feature a huge variety of lots, from small household items and ornaments to garden furniture and machinery. All potential lots are assessed on their individual merits.
Whether you're selling a watercolour or a wardrobe, an old mower or an Old Master, we want to ensure you get the best possible price. We will assess all items you wish to sell, give you an idea of its value, and decide which of our auctions is the most appropriate, depending on the number and type of potential buyers.
A house clearance is often associated with a major life event, such as a bereavement. In a busy and highly emotional situation, it's all too easy to accept the first offer you receive or, worse, end up paying someone to take it away! At Watsons, we have vast experience in assessing house contents, and our expert valuers are always happy to make arrangements with a third party for efficient, careful collection (this is a chargeable service).
Probate valuations, made at the instigation of solicitors or executors, aim to establish the true value of a person's estate, and ensure the maximum benefit. We will value major items, and arrange for the sale or disposal of other property, in accordance with the terms of the will, the rights of the beneficiaries, and the demands of HM Revenue & Customs!
We enjoy excellent long-standing relationships with many, regional and national firms of solicitors, for whom we complete numerous valuations for probate and other purposes. Working closely with you, we'll value major items, and arrange for the sale or disposal of other property, offering you the confidence and reassurance that comes from working with fellow professionals.
