Situated in the heart of Haslingden, Johnson, Durning & Woods has been a respected pillar of the local community since its establishment more than a century-and-a-half ago. The business remains in the Durning family with Principal Funeral Director Josephine at the head of the company.
We are members of both the National Society of Allied Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) and the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) - the two most widely-respected industry bodies for companies in our sector.Our spacious premises provide a comfortable environment in which to discuss arrangements, which can include memorial masonry, pre-payment plans and a fleet of funeral vehicles with accessible options for disabled passengers.

The practicalities that must be carried out when someone close passes away are often, quite naturally, the last things on the minds of bereaved friends and family. We assume as much responsibility for such duties, as soon as possible, when we are made aware of the death. Therefore, we ask that you contact us as soon as you are able.
We are a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors and subscribe to their current Code of Practice, a copy of which is available upon request. We aim to act in a professional manner and provide a courteous, sensitive and dignified service to you. Our estimate is an indication of the charges likely to be incurred on the basis of the information and details we know at the date of estimate.

This is to help you think through your options and make choices and to let you compare prices between different funeral directors (because prices can vary). This is a funeral where family and friends have a ceremony, event or service for the deceased person at the same time as they attend their burial or cremation.

Attending to all necessary arrangements during normal office hours with access to 24 hour professional advice. Provision of a suitable vehicle for transfer to Crematorium at a time and date of our choosing.
