Conveyancing solicitors are solicitors who have chosen to practise in the area of property law rather than other areas such as criminal or family law. They are not only fully qualified solicitors but must also be registered with the Law Society in the UK country they practise in. So what is conveyancing and why do you need a solicitor to do it?
Conveyancing fees seem to be a necessary evil when you're buying or selling a property in the UK. The bill for them is often quite large and in many cases, can significantly reduce the ready cash you have available to spend on your new property. However, you don't see much physical evidence for your money, so what are conveyancing solicitors actually charging you for?
Conveyancing fees UK wide are just one of the many costs involved in moving house and often these fees are forgotten about in the excitement of finding a new property. However, it is important to remember that you will require a conveyancer in the process and they will need to be paid. A conveyancer is essential to the process of buying and selling a home, but what is it exactly that they do?
Conveyancing fees for selling a house vary widely depending on which solicitor you go to, whereabouts they are in the country and how complicated the conveyancing process is. It is always best to use a professional conveyancer, no matter how tempting it might be to do otherwise. It is worth the cost.

Superb place. We had our original sale fall through but Conveyancing reassigned the original deposit 8 months later without any deduction.
It saved us £300 with the solicitor, but around £1000 all in compared with local quotes I got.
I've recommended them to every person who have bought or sold since, and will continue to do so!

I ran some quotes through online and got a call from William, initially I wasn't interested but he mentioned that he was experienced in this type of conveyancing issue and could give me some advice (transfer of equity) - he talked me through the process and cheapest option and was helpful.
He then gave me a couple of cheap quotes, one was from Gorvins Residential, the quote was very competitive. Even including Conveyancing Indexs £120 commission the price was still cheaper than if i'd gone direct to Gorvins/any other solicitors I was able to find myself.
In summary i'd thoroughly recommend this

Just like the solicitors they referred to a huge waste of time. Both Conveyancing Index and Swift Lawyers have taken the money and left us high and dry with a potential loss of sale.
Our experience has lasted May - Sept and all hopes of a resolution are out of the window I wouldn't want the referral fee back if it means using one of their recommendations to waste another four months, which apparently it does. My advice is avoid like the plague. Don't fall for the warm words and superficial approach.

They spam call you twice a day and when you answer they don't speak for 5 second and then hangup, When you ring back it goes to an automated message saying its alicia from conveyancing index' and provides a number to call back on. they have been doing this for 2 months, I have called them to ask them to remove my details from the system so we shall see what happens. Just based of this issue alone I would never use them. Who wants to be spam called several times a day then hanged up on. Upon phone them they seemed to know nothing of these spam calls stating 'this is the first time we spoken', this

Dont use this service. They quoted rubbish prices and spam call me contantly. I have moved into my house a year ago using a reputatable conveyancer I found locally and I still get called my conveyancing index and they just want a chat to see how things are going to see if they can sell things to me.
Asked one million times to stop calling me and but they persist.. I tell them to stop calling, I block numbers! Please leave me alone!

A real overall unpleasant experience
First impressions - I've lost £260 in fees.
1.. Conveyancing Index recommended a solicitor who informed me that they were not taking on any new business ?
2..Then on their panel they provided another solicitor
who after 2 weeks had still has not assigned a conveyancer within their own practice to look after our property sale.
The lawyer's in Bolton had not even started to process my case until I phoned and complained 8 days after paying a I.D processing fee.
