Bedford Training
Bedford Motorcycle Training can tailor a course to suit your individual requirements from C.B.T. to Direct Access. We are Bedford's only purpose built Motorcycle Training Centre. Our courses are run by professional Driver Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) approved instructors, using the latest radio systems.

We offer a full range of services and have a fleet of motorcycles ranging from 50cc to 650cc for hire. No matter which course you choose, you can be sure that Bedford Motorcycle Training will offer you the best and safest possible start to your riding.
Services
Compulsory Basic Training is the minimum legal requirement to enable you to ride on the road. It is not a test but a basic training course, ensuring that you have the right skills to keep you safe on the road. You will need a UK provisional or full driving license. At 16 you can ride up to a 50cc machine on "L" plates and at 17 you can progress to a 125cc motorcycle on "L" plates.
We have a large purpose built off road training site completely private, with toilet, heated classroom and tea and coffee making facilities. The tarmac area is complete with road markings to give you an insight as to what is needed when you go out on the road for the first time on a motorcycle. If it meets the requirements for the course you have chosen and you have appropriate insurance then you can use your own motorcycle for the course.

Sue was a wonderful instructor. Very informative throughout. Lovely establishment to train in. Ample room for training. Looked after everyone one by one. Answered all questions and thoroughly went through everything. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get into motorcycling.

Well I took my CBT today and I am pleased to report that completed it . I chose BMT because I was advised that this was a real ‘all about you ‘ school and not a corporate affair . It’s true ! I found the experience so much fun that I am going to give my daughter a gift certificate as a birthday present so she can also do it !
Sue , my instructor was superb , patient , understanding and fun . Today was my first time on a geared bike and Sue had me move from hesitant starts through slow figures of 8’s and lots of safe practice on the large private training area , then when I was comfortable

I passed, I liked sue she was friendly and to the point. I'm unsure on her style of instruction tho. I was new and nervous so the tutting and complaints when I got the same manoeuvre wrong a few times in a row put me off and made future attempts worse, the distraction from being told how badly I'm doing while riding on a road was not encouraging or helpful but made future attempts stressful.
People might find this form of instruction encouraging but myself and the young lad I was with didn't.

My experience was not one I would recommend. I found Sue's manner rude and condersending. I had not ridden a bike for over 30 years and I was put with 2 people who were experinced riders, so I felt pressure straight away. The experience had such a negative impact on me that I did not go back to complete my CBT training. I was not happy with Sue's style of teaching and it didn't work for me at all. I couldn't complete the figure of 8 and felt I was just left to keep on making the same mistake without any encouragement from Sue, so I was not prepared to go back and do 3 or 4 hours with Sue as my

I was also at the bike training school on the same day as the person that wrote the previous negative review & he turned up late without his licence & was told he couldn't do his training because of that. He then became angry & stormed off! I had my training & found the lady who took me very professional & in no way nasty!

Choose BMT off the internet with few reviews available as main company in Bedford, my local area, were unable to fit me in to do my direct access license - a bit of a risk. As it was some 30 years since I had been on a bike I was understandably rather nervous!
However I had no need to worry as Sue very quickly sorted me out with CBT and a number of lessons before my first module 1 test, which I failed (my fault entirely), my second attempt which I passed and then my module 2 test which I passed first time. Sue was a fantastic, and unbelievably patient, instructor and helped and guided me through
