Services
Tregoyd Trekking centre was started in 1958 by Mr E L & Mrs D G Jones. The idea grew from the success of pony trekking in Scotland which had not long started. Mr. Jones who just started farming after getting married in 1955, and had moved away from his father's farm to farm part of the Tregoyd Estate by himself, thought that this might be a great opportunity to develop a pony trekking business in the Brecon Beacons, Wales.
Pony Trekking is prefect for novices and non-riders who want to go horse riding in Wales and enjoy the stunning scenery and countryside we are lucky enough to live and work in. Pony trekking is undertaken at a walking pace, and once you have got used to your pony or horse, the occasional trot. You will be accompanied by one of our experienced and qualified staff, who will guide you around some of the many trails on the Black Mountains.
Why not stay in our self-catering accommodation at our Cadarn Bunkhouse where the horse riding is based. Step out the door and the horses and ponies will be waiting for you in the yard ready for riding. We have a small self-contained unit comprising of 3 rooms each sleeping 3 people. This has its own kitchen and dining area, shower room and lounge.
Our Visit Wales 2* graded bunkhouse & bungalow are great options for friends or groups looking for good value accommodation in a quiet and peaceful location with fabulous views of the Black Mountains and the Wye Valley. It is perfect for just chilling out and yet is only half a mile away from the village of Felindre with its friendly local pub, which serves good pub food.
Once in Three Cocks take the right hand turn right next to the Three Cocks Coaching Inn and follow brown horseshoe signs towards Tregoyd Mountain riders. Take A438 towards Brecon, Builth Wells then at Three Cocks turn left by the Three Cocks Coaching Inn and follow the brown horseshoe signs towards Tregoyd Mountain Riders.

I came for a morning ride this week and have to say how much I enjoyed it. We were a small group of four riders who were taken out by Chloe and Lilly. They were fantastic, very professional yet friendly being mindful of the horses needs and the needs of us as a group. The scenery was spectacular and the sun shone. The horses were well cared for and forward going. Thank you.

I had always wanted to ride a horse since I was a kid but never got a chance. On our 1 week holiday in Wales, we group of 6 (all beginners) went to Tregoyd Mountain Riders for an hour ride. Let me tell you guys, the ride was perfect, it was the highlight of my holiday. The horses were looked after very well and disciplined. Roxanne, the host, was very friendly and informative regarding our queries, much appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed our ride and definitely be back soon.

A fantastic place for a day trekking in the beautiful Welsh mountains, or a great place for children's riding lessons! The instructors are very professional and friendly and with a wide variety of horses and ponies available they will always find one suitable for you size and riding capability from complete beginners to experienced riders, absolutely brilliant!!!

I came from the United States to come riding in Wales. I chose this place just by its ratings on the Internet, the kindness of the staff in every email, and I was very pleasantly surprised. I have been riding for over 50 years, I Fox hunt, dressage, and in my youth, ran barrel horses. I did not want a slow, nose to tail trail ride with beginning riders. I wanted to ride! And have the training and background to ride fast and many hours. Any one can say they ride, but this place made sure I could ride, took all safety precautions, I did bring my own breeches and boots. Amy was my guide, wonderful

Went to Tregoyd with my daughter and daughter-in-law and had the most fabulous time. Confidence building lessons with Rachael, fantastic hacks with Sarah and Katie. Accommodation superb value for money. And of course great horses. Everyone there is so friendly as well. I really can't recommend this place enough. Hoping to go again really soon.

Thank you for a great morning trekking. I hadn't been on a horse for forty years so was a little nervous, but with a fab instructor and my adorable horse Milly I was soon trotting and also had a few canters. The views were amazing too. Can't wait to do it again x

Really fantastic riding. I have ridden in many different capacities for 37 years, and this is the best experience of casual trail riding I've had. Lovely, educated horses and the most spectacular scenery. Will be back every time I'm in Brecon. Thanks.

The whole experience of Tregoyd is amazing.
The group rides are catered perfectly to the ability of all riders. The instructors and horses are amazing, cannot speak highly enough of them!
For the more experienced rider I would definitely suggest the full day ride. It is slightly pricey but so worth it. There is plenty of trotting and cantering and the route is brilliant. Each time I've been we get very close to the wild Welsh ponies up on the foot hills (who recognise us as horses not humans so aren't scared). They also stop at a wonderful village pub before turning around and going home
