I purchased a curved stairlift in September for 11,000.00. Paid half on installation and payments were to be taken out monthly for the rest. Problems with my visa didn’t allow this to happen BUT no one called to advise me so I had no idea till today that my account was on hold. (Jan 4 2022). Chair lift stopped working last week. Could not get through to service Continually put on hold. Tried six or seven times daily and unable to get through. Am a disabled senior unable to do stairs. Whole reason for getting stair lift. Purchased a stairlift straight one approximately 2 years ago. On Christmas day it broke down and my husband needed to get to the dining area which took him a long time to get down. I called several times but did not get the common decency of a reply not like when they are looking for a purchase they are on you like white on rice. I got so desperate and went on the internet and found a gentleman in Ottawa who helped us right away to get the problem solved. My father paid $9600.00 For his stair lift. He paid $400 a year for a service contract as well. During installation he was told that when he was done with the stair lift that acorn would buy it back at a discounted price.
The service people who came every time it broke down were very polite but getting service scheduled was a nightmare. Four weeks before my father passed away the chair Stopped working when he was home alone halfway up the steps. We had to wait six days for a repair person. He had to sleep on the first floor couch for nearly a week as no Family members have the first floor accommodations

My grandfather had a stairlift installed for 11 steps and it cost $11 000.00 I should never left him alone to make the purchase because this company takes advantage of seniors!! He realizes now he was way overcharged as his friends have the same lift, but purchased and installed by another company and charged at least 4 x less. Recommend not letting your senior making the purchase alone!

On December 16th, 2021, an Acorn professional technician came to my house to swap the indoor stairlift for a two-rail outdoor stairlift in my unheated stairwell.
The technician operated in a professional and timely manner.
He was very friendly, polite, compassionate, respectful and lovely; just like all Acorn Representatives...example: Doris. Wonderful.
He showed up on time and worked very hard as he rebuilt a two-rail stairlift with out door capacity to fit the specific configurations of my stairwell steps. He did a very good job and I am happy with my new two-rail winterized stairlift (s)

***DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT*** We purchased an Acorn Stairlift for my mother who (obviously) has difficulty maneuvering up and down long flights of stairs. The lift is a little over 5 years old and right around year 3 was when she began experiencing frequent technical problems with the machine. We pay an annual fee for maintenance, for which a technician is to come inspect the machine and make any necessary repairs; however, the problems with the lift continuously seem to persist even after maintenance is performed. The chair will shut off while being used, other times it fails to operate
