Spit & Polish
Spit & Polish was established in 1984, at the time alloy wheel refurbishment was mainly achieved by hand polishing, a very messy job, and painting using traditional car paint, results were not to a professional standard and looked nothing like the original finish.

The challenge was to develop a system that had alloys looking as good as new that could be achieved quickly (at the time only one UK alloy wheel manufacturer would refurbish wheels but often took in excess of 3 months). The problems were many but were eventually overcome to set the template for what the majority of refurbishers use today.
Services
The challenge was to develop a system that looked as good as new and that could be achieved quickly, at the time only one UK wheel manufacturer would refurbish wheels but often took in excess of 3 months. Within four years we were refinishing over 40,000 wheels per year, working directly with major car manufacturers as well as main dealers, used car dealers, tyre distributors and the general public.
We use the very latest in Electrostatic dry powder coating, water based automotive paints and specialist finishes in our alloy wheel refurbishment. As well as offering a country wide collection/delivery service via courier we also operate 5 vans collecting and delivering in most home counties (trade only).
Please be aware there is a possibility of the wheel cracking during alloy wheel repair due to the nature of the damage. Spit and Polish accepts no responsibility in the event of this situation arising. Please note the above prices are all based on loose wheels, there will be additional costs for removal and refitting of tyres, valves and balancing.
We always start from scratch, this involves stripping all existing finishes from the wheel, repairing any damage, painting the wheel, diamond cutting (if required) and finally lacquering. Warranty depends on finish, wheels that have a painted all over finish have a 12 month warranty, wheels that are diamond cut have a 6 month warranty, there are however exclusions to these warranties, due to inherent faults with some wheels.

I've used Spit & Polish for most of my cars (6 out of 7 cars) alloy wheel refurbishment over the past 2 years. The quality isn't the best, but the price reflects this, so I've always gone back.
However the last set of wheels were done very poorly. They arrived back with a very poor finish with lots of scratches and dirt/pitting. This is for my BMW 330CI M Sport Convertible, which has a staggered setup. Along with the above the wider tyres were fitted to the narrower alloys and the narrow tyres were on the wider alloys!
They were sent back to be redone (re-paint) again, where most of the pitting

I had neglected the condition of my AMG wheels and they were indeed a sorry state. Spitandpolish had been recommended by a neighbor. Ian was fantastic in his customer service. After having the car for two days the end result was very transformative , the wheels look like new .
As a result I have now booked my wife's car for two wheels to be refurbished.
I cannot thank Spitandpolish enough.

I initially had a refurb here about a year ago after kerbing my wheel, after a year all the lacquer had peeled off the wheel, they did again for free, but they have taken even more off the wheel and it now looks completely odd compared to the other wheels, the diamond cut bit is really thick and on the other 3 wheels quite thin. I didn`t immediately notice at the shop, but I noticed straight away when I had another look when I got home. I am now so disappointed I`m already looking for a replacement wheel :-( The diamond cut parts of the refurbed wheel also have noticable machine "score" marks and

Critical: Quality
Very disappointed, just got my five jag wheels today, every tyre has sidewall damage, (so five new tyres) paint is already flaking off, corrosion in the bead not cleaned of just painted over, as soon as the tyres where removed the paint came off with it, now the tyres wont seal properly. Just glad it wasn’t on a customers car.

If the original finish is a 10 then I've received a 1 at best. Awful orange peel effect nearer to Hammerite than original finish and it's pinging off after two weeks. Tyre fitter found two hideous flaws that some clown had hidden under their protective tape at the periphery and yet someone has initialed their 'approved quality' sticker?Too far to take them back and besides I've lost confidence. Unable to create a fuss on site as the boss was present and she already thinks I'm a waster for getting this done 85 miles away. Same wheels now being refurbished again by a local company that happen to

Just collected wheels and have to say very disappointed with the quality of finish. I have used them before and had OK service but lacquer lift usually at 1 year but this time powder coated finish just low quality with many imperfections. Mobile smart repair guys would match or better the finish for a fraction of the cost! wont use again.

Excellent service. I have owned my Audi A6 for 14 years from new.. They keep the 19” speed line split rims absolutely immaculate every 4 or 5 years. Straight forward, honest and fair with really good attention to detail
Can’t fault the service
Back in a few years!
