Founded in 2001 by James Morton and Tom Eden, we are specialist auctioneers of collectors' coins of all periods and types, war medals, Orders and decorations, historical medals and paper money. Many of our staff are former members of the Coins & Medals Department at Sotheby's, with whom we maintain a close association.
Based in Central London, we hold live online auctions which are held in Sotheby's Bond Street salerooms and are open to all. We offer comprehensive valuation services and are pleased to give our verbal opinion on the market value of your property without obligation of any kind. Private treaty sales can also be arranged.

Services
We reserve the right to ask new buyers for identification and may also request references. Commission bids: We will be pleased to execute bids on behalf of clients who are unable to attend the sale in person, subject to our Conditions of Business. Lots will always be purchased as cheaply as possible, depending on other bids and reserves.
When your coins, medals or banknotes are offered in a Morton & Eden auction, you are ensuring that they will be expertly catalogued, marketed internationally, and presented to best advantage. We are proud to hold a number of world records for objects we have sold in the past. In the first place, please send us clear images and details of the items you are thinking of selling.
We offer a complete valuation service, whether you need a free, informal opinion on a single coin or group of family medals, or are seeking professional assessment of important private or institutional collections. You are welcome to get in touch by phone (preferably with the objects to hand when you call), or by email or letter.
While we are principally auctioneers, and aim to achieve the highest possible prices by generating competition in the saleroom, there are occasions when a direct, private sale can be more appropriate. Buyers and sellers alike often have excellent reasons for wishing to remain discreet and anonymous.
We are always happy to assist clients with advice on forming their collections. This can take many forms, whether it be advising on specific coins to purchase, broader suggestions on the structure of the collection, and recommendations on storage and display. We are often asked to represent clients at auctions in London and elsewhere, especially when the collector cannot attend or examine a piece in person.

Report
In response to an enquiry I had about my late father's Queen's Gallantry Medal, I got a phone call back from David at Morton and Eden Ltd. David could not have been more helpful. It was obvious that he is very experienced and knowledgeable and he even took the time before the phone call to read about the background of the medal and why it was awarded to my father. David gave me excellent advice and guidance and I would not hesitate to use Morton and Eden for buying or selling items or any other related services, in the future. An all round positive experience and I would highly recommend Morton
