Animal Welfare takes priority within every aspect of Dean and Sara's lives. They both continue to strive in making positive change within the dog grooming, dog training and dog behaviour industries where, in some situations, the welfare of the animals is poor and commercial greed dictates. They have recently returned from sabbatical leave in Sicily where they have established a new 'not for profit' animal centre.
Habituation is one of the simplest forms of animal learning. Where after a period of exposure to a stimulus, an animal stops responding. It can occur at different levels in the nervous system. Sensory systems may stop sending signals to the brain after repeated presentations of a stimulus.
Provided it is presented at low level and is therefore deemed as non threatening (or really nice - it is difficult to ignore the lovely smell of freshly cooked bread if you are hungry!)Habituation to complex stimuli may occur at the level of the brain; the stimulus is still perceived, but the animal has simply "decided" to no longer pay attention to it.

Dean Hart Senior Practitioner and co owner of Canine Behaviour and Training Referrals offers an Expert Witness Service. An Expert Witness is a person whose level of specialised knowledge or skill in a particular field qualifies them to present their opinion about the facts of a case during legal proceedings.

The dog hut clipped my little dog and took and care ,due to toby having a really bad experiences at another groomers .They found lumps and bumps on Toby some I know about. They take time to check every dog for any health problems . Clipped Toby just right every time we went there. Thank you for caring and taking your time with my little Toby, who sadly passed away last April

I can't thank dean and Sara enough not only for their help, professionalism, teaching and support in helping me pass my level 4 professional recognition award but also in the capacity as a dog grooming client. Having been referred by our vet we met Dean and Ben and within minutes we knew that we were in good hand's. I have attended a number of courses at the Dog Hut and have been impressed by the professionalism shown. I have thoroughly enjoyed learning in such a friendly relaxed atmosphere. I have attended many lectures and courses with Dean. Dean has a lovely kind way when he is teaching and he always made us students feel very comfortable and it has been a pleasure to attend his classes. Sara and her team of are brilliant with my 2 dogs, Orlando and Buddy when I take them in for grooming. I feel so happy to leave them there as they are always so chilled out when I collect them.
