With investment, your capital is at risk. Tax treatment depends on your individual circumstances and may be subject to change in the future. An ISA - or Individual Savings Account - is a 'tax-efficient' way of investing your own money. In practice, this means any growth, returns or interest you earn on savings up to your ISA allowance (currently 20,000) are tax-free.
An ISA is an Individual Savings Account. It's a special type of account that gives you the opportunity to save or invest a certain amount of money every year, without having to pay tax on any growth in your investments or savings. Here's how it works. This amount is known as your ISA allowance. For the 2021/2022 tax year the ISA allowance is 20,000.

Nutmeg wrongly allocated my £5000 ISA contribution to a general investment account. I've already complained but have very low expectations after an helpful conversation with their support team citing very long response times for complaints. It seems very likely that at the very least this will get to the Financial Ombudsman. It's extremely poor customer care and unprofessional to come up with any sort of excuse instead of correctly allocating my £5,000 ISA contribution.

Like all providers, there are things that happen and simply don't happen.
I did have an account earlier with Nutmeg and then Nutmeg was super slow in pretty much everything, right from allocating payments to EFTs / equity etc to withdrawals which it takes even now, a fortnight to credit to. As someone who knows financial markets pretty well - I could have got a better return for my investments if I had managed those myself - but I do not have the time sadly.
Nutmeg is pretty much the same - my address was wrong and the team claimed to have fixed it, which never happened.

Nutmeg is fun but not really a serious way to make money. I have invested circa 15k and my returns have never reached higher then 7% in over four years which is OK but every time there is a crash in the market all is wiped off (I have made more money in my current account in 4 years). Currently I have a minus figure which is understandable in the current situation but there will always be macro economics which will wipe out your profits (credit crunch, Brexit etc). Even at peak it was only showing a cup of coffee a week profit which is now gone. My recommendations either invest more wisely (stick

Excellent.
Really love the idea of paid experts taking decisions on my behalf. With Nutmeg for a year now and returns are better than expected. Currently have a company pension but if I ever need to switch to a personal scheme Nutmeg will be my choice. Love the access to information which is presented in a fun way.
This is how investments should be; clear, concise and updated.
