Set against the backdrop of the Himalayas, Nepal is a country that contains great diversity in terms of religion, culture and geography which greatly influences its cuisine. Dishes are known to vary from one community to another however, dal-bhat-tarkari, which can be translated as lentil-rice-curry is known to be the staple meal across the country.
Traces of influence from the neighbouring countries, India and China is also evident in the Nepalese cuisine, i.e. MO:MO, a Tibetan-Nepalese hybrid dumpling dish. Nepalese dishes are generally healthier as we rely less on use of fats and more on vegetables, lean meat, pickled dishes and salad. Common ingredients include lentils, potatoes, tomatoes, cumin, coriander, chilli peppers, garlic and mustard oil.

It has affected over 5 million people and has taken over 6 000 lives so far. Many of the survivors have lost families, friends and their homes. They (including those whose homes are still standing) are sleeping on the streets as they are afraid of the on-going aftershocks. Our beautiful Kathmandu Valley - one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites - and other historic and cultural landmarks have also collapsed into rubble.

Just passing Macclesfield because we were diverted. This place looked interesting and we liked the menu on the wall. Really liked seeing Dosa on the menu which I had and it was lovely. Partner loved his curry too. We will have to find excuse to come to Macclesfield again so we can dine at this Restaurant.

Don't miss out on this gem of a restaurant! After visiting again recently the food here is still absolutely delicious, the service excellent and very friendly staff. There were four of us and we had two courses, which were a selection of different dishes, all of which were perfect. Whenever I come here, I never understand why it's not packed, perhaps it's too tucked away. It may look a little dated, but look past that and enjoy the culinary delight!

Ordered Gurkha last night for the first time and will certainly be the last. Ordered the food at 19:30 and after 2 phone calls it finally arrived at 21:50. Food was cold and part of the order was missing. Chicken wings were dry. Curry was tasteless. I was offered ‘free popadoms’ on our next order however there won’t be a next order. Terrible service and food. In the end I paid £20 for rice and chips as that is all we ate. Attached photo of £4:15 chicken wings.
