We sail from March through to December, with organised family activities during the summer and friendly racing on most Sundays. Sundays are the most popular days with organized races with tea and cake after the second race. If you're new to sailing, don't let the racing put you off, there is plenty of room, and it has the advantage of at least one safety boat on the water.
Free sailing is of course available to members at any time but no organized safety cover is provided. The club is very much run on a volunteer basis, members are requested (after their first year) to help run the club perhaps once or twice a year in rolls such as helping to organizing the Sunday racing or helping out with the afternoon tea's, Sunday is the day for organized racing, but don't let that put you off sailing or cruising on a Sunday.

Services
The club is situated in the Gloucestershire countryside, about 3 miles south of Tewkesbury on the west bank of the river Severn. We have a large well kept site, well off from the beaten track, with a clubhouse on the river bank. The club has a healthy fleet of both cruising and racing members. Members can use the club and sail on the river at any time between March and December.
We're a Friendly Club - we're small, we don't take our racing too seriously, we're family orientated. We do lots of bring and share social events. We do family weekends during the summer. We have members from all walks of life: what we share is an enjoyment of the outdoors and sailing. You can sail for miles - the river may be narrow compared with a lake, but you can go out for the afternoon and sail for miles.
With many RS Aeros based on rivers throughout the UK there was keen interest in a dedicated UK River Championships. Avon SC on the Severn near Gloucester and their emerging fleet of 7 RS Aeros volunteered as the hosts of the first annual Champs. The challenges and enjoyment of river sailing are a plenty and can prove more interesting and rewarding than open water, especially in a pretty spot like at Avon SC.
Bart's Bash is a global sailing race taking place at hundreds of venues, with thousands of sailors in hundreds of different classes of boat around the world. This incredible event works on the assumption that sailing venues host their races at weekends and we invite them to unite in one colossal global sailing event.
The Laser is the most popular dinghy sailed around the world, with over 200,000 built since it was launched in 1971. It's an Olympic class sailed by both men and women. It's a strict one design, with very tight class rules, and has changed very little since its launch. A new Laser is about 5,000, but there are boats for sale to meet any budget.
