All of our instructors will ensure your individual training requirements are met through the courses available. We have a private, off road training facility for you to start your learning before you venture on to the road, and can take you from passing your CBT through to your full licence. Our training facility is situated only 10 minutes from the Farnborough Test Centre.

Services
Before starting your training you will be required to have passed your Motorcycle Theory Test. 1st Gear can book this for you as part of your course. The apps for the theory test that have been used by our students and recommend, are either Focus or Deep River Developments - Be careful on the wording of the questions on the multiple choice - as they try and trick you with their wording!
The test is conducted at the Farnborough Test Centre. The Module 2 Test is conducted on public highways. The examiner will give you directions and instructions by radio. Part of the Test will be and independent ride, the examiner will give you a direction to follow i.e. Aldershot, you will then continue to follow the signs to Aldershot until the examiner starts to give you instructions again.
To take part in any motorcycle training course, you need to hold a UK Provisional Driving licence. If you don't yet have a driving licence of any kind, this can be ordered here. If you have a full UK Car Driving Licence, the Motorcycle Provisional entitlement is automatically included, there is no need to order a separate provisional licence.

Fantastic team. I passed my Mod 2 this afternoon, couldn’t have done it without these guys.
Jacko and Dave top notch training for my CBT in July, and in the last couple of weeks I’ve had fantastic instruction from Jez, Stef, Dave, and Andy. The whole process was seamless and I was fully supported the whole time. Not to forget the wonderful Michelle who was brilliant at fitting my training around a difficult childcare schedule

Did my CBT in October and DAS in November - the most enjoyable experience!
From organising the training with Michelle, through to the carrying out my training with the instructors, I was made to feel very welcome and well looked after. Most importantly, I received training to a very high standard and passed both Mod 1 and 2 first time!

I've recently finished DAS course with 1st Gear. Great people to deal with throughout the whole process. Starting from booking, rebooking if needed or adding extra lessons you might need, nothing is impossible to sort out by friendly and extremely helpful Michelle.
Then during training you'll get a lot of help and useful tips from the instructors. They've been doing it for ages so just trust them, listen to their advice, don't think you know better than them and you'll be fine and well prepared for the test.

I recently did my A2 training with 1st Gear and they really were amazing. I did the all in one course, and they took me from never riding a motorbike before to being a safe and confident rider within a month! If you're thinking of doing your motorbike training, then I would highly recommend 1st Gear!

Superb experience, glad I booked in my Mod1/Mod2 training with these guys, they so friendly and helpful. Guide you and train you pretty well. I passed both Mod1/Mod2 in first go having 0 minor faults in both. So happy. Thanks to all 1st gear instructors as they all participated in adding information/training.

I started training with 1st Gear in July, and even from the start, being in contact with Michelle, I felt well looked after.
I almost wasn't allowed on the road after my CBT, because I dumped the clutch every 5 mins. 2 months of 125CC training later, and I took the direct access course. Training was brilliant, high quality and well organised. Instructors were supportive, knowledgable, and very confidence inspiring. Special thanks to Jacko who had me for the majority of my training and mod 1 and 2. I passed first time thanks to his guidance, and I am over the moon. Would recommend to anyone wanting

I booked the whole thing with these guys...from Theory test to CBT, then module 1 then finally module 2. There are numerous training sessions and daily road rides. They arrange it all, book it all, train you, give you seriously good tips, you use their bikes and they have a unique off road training centre to get you ready for what's to come. I can't believe there is anyone better equipped to get you through your full bike test! Thanks to everyone concerned!

I booked a 6 day - DAS course with 1st Gear. Form the beginning they where very helpful when they where able to fit my training around my existing shift pattern at work. They rang my back a few minutes later and had worked it out perfectly, even with the slightly limited availability I gave them.
The training was well constructed with an experienced team of instructors. There was great solid tuition throughout, coupled with a good dose of banter!
They made the potentially stressful situation of learning / testing great fun and got the best out of the time spent with them.

Absolutely brilliant from the moment I started my training to when I passed my module 2 test. The experience and knowledge from all the team is second to none, it’s a nice relaxed environment which helps with the nerves. Just finished a 4 day course with 1st gear which included my Mod 1 & 2 tests. These guys were fantastic and supremely professional - I did my CBT in Reading (where I live) and didn’t feel the company I used were professional so decided on travelling to Surry to use 1st gear and they were brilliant and head and shoulders better than my experience in Reading - furthermore I passed first try on both mod 1 & 2
