My stay at the Old Mill was cut short by Covid, but it was ideal for me as a research student at the University of St Andrews. Dundee is a bustling, lively city with tonnes of things to do and excellent transport links to anywhere in Scotland and the rest of the UK by bus and rail. The Old Mill itself is in the centre of town beside all the main Dundee university buildings and is really well kept. The staff are AMAZING and treat their tenants extremely well, better than any porters or wardens I've had in any University run halls. While the stair case up to the upper floor flats are a bit of a killer

I am a St Andrews student and I have chosen to live at Old Mill because its more affordable and a really good value for money. It is in a great location, all essential services are within 10 mins of walking. The staff here are super nice and helpful. When something breaks, the maintenance comes to repair it within a day. I have never experienced anyone coming into my room without prior notice and I am sure that even if they access someone's room when they're not there, it's for essential, safety-related maintenance. The smoke alarms don't go off as often, in my block it happened just once last

I'm staying in a one bed flat with my boyfriend and not only is it much cheaper than uni accommodation (we save £40 a week each) but it's also more central (about 5 min walk from the over-gate and 1 minute from the nearest shop) and is much more spacious. They have kept the old sash windows which means plenty of light and air gets into the rooms too. It is nice have more independence as well which we wouldn't have had in the uni accommodation

Although not the ‘fanciest’ of student accommodation, Old Mill has completely changed since being taken over by it’s predecessors. The rooms are compact but honestly they have used the space really well and everything does have a fresh feel in the room. The kitchens are huge so perfect space for having people over. The heating works perfectly with massive windows (so u don’t feel your going to sweat to death like other places I’ve been in Dundee). The bathrooms could do with updating, particularly the flooring but it is an ancient building so can’t really mark them down for working

I read the reviews before my daughter booked a room last year and was alarmed. However, please don’t worry, the accommodation is fine. Yes, it’s student accommodation and it is definitely not luxurious but it is fine. Rooms are a decent size as is the kitchen/ living room. Rooms are not en-suite but most of the 6 bedroom flats have 2 toilets and some have 2 showers which seems to be sufficient.
Yes, drains block and cookers break but the management team are pretty good at getting things fixed or replaced.

So overpriced for the room and services that you get. You can find other places with reasonable price. The staff are helpful and supportively but the manager can't solve problem that occurred at night because he said "it not happened between my shift and I can not investigate it" . One more thing, staff can get in your room without any notice and permission.then yell at you and left. This is unacceptable and good people won't do something like this. This review is recent experiences.
